Current Speedrunning Tips

1. Avoid Tropical biomes. Although this seems counterintuitive, youll have a better chance finding clay and flint elsewhere, its usually dense with plants and bamboo, which makes it more difficult to find chickens and rocks for basic needs.

2. Immediately start discovering pottery, the line of advancements in pottery is a lot and can easily take about 20 minutes to complete

3. Immediately start bread making, not as long as the whole line in pottery, but its still a significant part of the run and should be started immediately.

4. If you can, try to find a village with at MINIMUM 5 sapiens, avoid tribes with children and look for roles such as "Creative", "Fast Learner"  and "Logical" They do not have to have all three, if you have a tribe with at least 2 people with these traits, you are pretty much set for the whole run

5. when you learn rock knapping, only make the bare minimum. This means, only making 2 hand axes, 1 pickaxe head, 2 knives, and 1 spear head. Along with that, only collect 2 flax.

6. The best biome for Speedrunning is rivers and coastal biomes, these places have the most amount of clay, but be warned, there is not a lot of food in these biomes, so you need to start killing chickens right at the start of the run. if you learn cooking fast enough you will do great.

7. Do not waste resources on building thatch or wood buildings. It is uneccessary and will cost you precious resources (edited)

8. Most important techs to unlock: Fire lighting, mud brick building, flax spinning, cooking. If you do not unlock these in the first 10 minutes of the run, the rest of the run will be extremely difficult.

9. you do not need to kill a alpaca to unlock the spear hunting skill. This is why you only need one spear. Secondly, you only need one rock to kill chickens, but while investigating "Basic Hunting" make sure to use the select multiple option before pressing investigate. This will do two things for you: it will unlock basic hunting for you, but the sapien who just unlocked basic hunting will continue to kill the other chickens, this will save you a lot of worrying about food in the future.

10. Later on in the run you will likely end up only working on ceramics such as brick building and tiling. When you get to this stage of the run, make sure you get your fast learners on the job, they'll save you a hell of a lot of time just waiting.

Note on the last tip: other sapiens  should in the meantime gather branches to keep the kiln alight and food in case you're running empty

11. When determining your investigators, make sure you remove all other roles from them except for investigation. This will be very useful so that they can do jobs for you when they unlock that new technology. You will notice this being a problem if you do not remove their roles before hand as theyll be the only capable sapiens to do a job but they wont do it because they reached maximum capable roles.

12. Always choose a new tribe at the "dark side" of the planet. When you finally decide on a tribe, the game will immediately set the day to the morning, which maximizes the length of time you have for your first day.
