Speedrunning Peep the Trayton 101

So you want to get into speedrunning Peep the Trayton? Well you've come to the right place! Peep the Trayton is deceivingly easy so don't get frustrated if you don't WR on your first try. But let's get into it.

Step One - Acquiring Peep the Trayton :

Peep the Trayton for the time being is only available on GameJolt. An account is not required to download Peep the Trayton, but it is suggested to create one as GameJolt is the current community hub for the game. Simply go to the link provided below and download the 0.1.0 version of the game. After downloading the zip file all you have to do is extract it and run the "Peepthetrayton.exe" file to start the game!

Note : Some users who use Windows Defender have experienced alerts that the file is unsafe. This is due to the fact that the publishing company Jello Interactive is not recognized as a known publisher by Windows. THE FILE IS ABSOLUTELY SAFE AND HAS BEEN PERSONALLY SCANNED BY OUR MOD TEAM!

Step Two - Acquiring LiveSplit :

LiveSplit is a program used by the majority of speedrunners to time their runs. If you've already downloaded LiveSplit then you can visit the Resources page and download the split files for your category and skip to the next step of this guide. But if you have never used LiveSplit continue reading. To download the latest version of LiveSplit visit the link provided below and download the software. Included in the "Resources" tab of the Peep the Trayton speedrun.com page is a link to both the Any% category and NoLeanNoSprint% categories respective split files. Simply download whichever categories file that you'd like to run and launch LiveSplit. Once in LiveSplit, right click on the timer that has popped up on your display and click "Open Splits" and then "From File". Then simply select the split file from wherever you downloaded it to and select the split file. You'll still want to explore the settings of LiveSplit and make sure to configure your hotkeys to start and stop the timer. Make sure to also enable Global Hotkeys to be able to use LiveSplit while in Peep the Trayton.

Note : You can use custom splits as long as the timing is at least to the hundreths.

Step Three - The Run :

Once you have configured all your LiveSplit settings you're all set to begin running. The timing of all categories begins when the player gains control and ends when the bus is touched and the win screen is reached.

As you all may or may not know Peep the Trayton version 0.2.0 has been released and with it comes some changes. For the full changelog check the GameJolt page. But in short, 0.2.0 has introduced a difficulty system. As of today the current difficulties are Normal and Hard. All runs attempted on 0.1.
