By default, the game makes it that so if you tap dash, it jabs instead. This can get very annoying when speedrunning. By turning on dedicated dash mode, you will always dash regardless of how long you press it. It's also vital for top times. God knows why this isn't the default, but here's how to turn it on;

1. Press ESC

2. Go into options

3. Press gameplay

4. Select dedicated dash button from OFF to ON

5. In the same menu, you should put on speedrun mode (this just skips cutscenes seamlessly) and stage timer.

None of these are a rule, but strongly recommended.
