A Great Game for Speedrunning

I just logged a 1:52:20, but I'm not going to submit anything more yet because I think I can get WR soon. I lost twenty minutes on the River King segment because I had him on the line 4 times before I actually got him.

I just wanted to make a post because I think this is a game that deserves a real community. If you are someone just browsing on speedrun.com or are thinking about running the game I would encourage you to give it a try. The movement is slow, the fishing segments take a lot of time, but this is what makes this game so unique. The time to save is not in the movement at all. Once you have your route locked down, it really is a game of chance. Between the random encounters, fish locations, and kinds of fish within a location, this game has so many possible permutations of outcome. I haven't actually sat down and done any math, but I bet that in a million attempts, no two would look the same. I think there is something beautiful to that. Almost like a much much simpler Minecraft random seed run, where skill is still very important but even if you do everything perfect, it is in the games hands. This could result in a beautiful grind, and I don't see why a time of 1:2X:XX isn't possible.

I will get the sub 1:45:00, hopefully within a week, we'll see, but I will probably leave it at that. I hope that somebody else will run this game again and beat it. If so, I'll probably try to come back and beat that time. Some competition is a great motivator and for what I think is such a great game, it really deserves it.
