Speak of the devil, Tower of Hell run are hard to handle since it's really randomized and RNG Based.

(This is probably because the games I moderate are less active than the others mentioned here) but I don't mind all that much, perhaps I'm just really sad but I enjoy verifying a few runs per day. The bad parts are well explained above though, to an extent yes it can be painful - especially with a specific game I moderate where the game's main community for a variety of reasons despises the speedrunning community, that I'm to be mostly in-charge of.

Being a moderator for too many games can be very difficult, as I heard from several people, but moderating only 1 - 3 small games is pretty easy. its nice to support a small community, and (if you are a super mod) you can add other mods to help you if you feel verifying runs is getting to be too much.

I dunno, I like helping people and I get to watch people speedrun. Can get annoying sometimes though, some of the work is tedious as hell.

It's an ungrateful job you want no part of if it's just to show off!

Sure, the feeling of "being in a position of power" may seem appealing, but the appeal goes away once you understand your responsibilities, and the number of ways ish can hit the fan.

But at the same time, it's empowering when you actually have something to bring to the table when it comes to improving your community.

So overall, it depends on what your true intentions are:

  • You want "ULTIMATE PAHWA"? This is gonna become a headache real quick!
  • You genuinely want to help? It'll be fun, barring those few times you'll come across an unpleasant runner who wants to mess with you "because they can". You'll learn to make abstraction of those soon enough.
