Throughout the game, there are many moments where you have to stop and wait for something to move out of your way. Restarting your movement after the path is clear can prove difficult.
Intuiting the perfect moment to start walking again CAN result in a "perfect step", where not a moment is wasted. These are generally in the frames right before the path becomes clear. Doing these consistently is extremely tough though, and it has a good chance to result in a "bad step" if done incorrectly; where half a second or more is wasted.
Luckily, there is a method to get pretty good steps consistently. As soon as you are next to the obstruction, release the movement key, then hold it down again. This is useful as it doesn't rely on timing. You can simply hold the key and wait.
This method is not optimal in terms of speed, but it does wonders for avoiding bad steps or false starts.
