Using a letter with an attached item, we can equip our "Favorites" as an item using CLES: Striped Apple => None Cherry => Copper Sword (Watched Family Cutscene) Grapes => None Carrot => Gba Port (Copper Sword, Iron Sword, Steel Sword) Potato => Apple Preference Corn => Cherry Preference Meat => Grapes Preference Fish => Carrot Preference Bannock => Potato Preference Spring Water => Corn Preference Milk => Meat Preference Strange Liquid => Fish Preference
Using DUMMY-US glitch to equip favorites in RBP1
Turning off the GBA on the last frame of character creation can cause partial data copy:
Also corruption of other slots (clear name, change profession, reset inventory, etc)
It appears to just corrupt slot 1:
Character corruption is a full character wipe. Nothing useful that I can find.
Since this creates a blacksmith in slot 1, if another slot already has blacksmith, this can be used to spawn 2 blacksmiths in Tipa
On JP/PAL, this does not do slot corruption, but instead can be used to cancel the forced character selection when using 1 GBA
This allows 1 GBA to create multiple characters without being forced to watch the cutscenes immediately. However, these will be forced later.
This does not really save time, because the same thing can be done by a 2nd GBA. Just reconnect the GBA after creating each character.
Misc glitches with no real home.
These will also be posted to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13PfbJgxfLsa89DvYtD2gSSSW8tC5XFlvUUTqPhOFo74/edit#gid=0
Pause a few frames after pressing buy or sell. The GBA will remain unpaused despite the GC pausing. See Merchant IGG for video.
Very slow. Use merchant pause glitch.
From here, we can sell an item multiple times. However, subsequent sales will only give 17 Gil for some reason. Also, this can cause inventory item count underflow, resulting in a broken inventory. Potentially fixable with wrong crafting or letter item overflow.
NOTE: Video inaccuracy -- subsequent sales only give 17 Gil per sale, making this a very slow form of IGG.
Using Merchant Pause Glitch, back out of the merchant menu entirely to glitch the merchant. Talking to this merchant again will lock the camera in place.
Discovered by O.D.W.
Using two characters (ideally merchant/tailor), have the tailor send home a potato to the non-Roland letter. The next letter should have 800 Gil that can be duped with letter item duping.
<Needs video>Artifact memory is shared with wrong craft memory. In theory, we could obtain the artifacts:
<Ogrekiller, Sasuke Blade, Murasame, Gekkabijin> or <Engetsurin, Sasuke Blade, Murasame, Gekkabijin>
These would cause slot "A6" or "A5" to load into wrong craft memory. If combined with certain letters / command list data, this could allow us to treat our Gil as an item, and craft it into ANY item on the crafting table.
Unfortunately, due to how difficult it is to obtain these artifacts, this likely will never save time in any category.
Theoretical river + miasma skip. It may be possible to equip and corrupt hitbox properties for characters in slots 2 to 8.
If we could use CLES (command list equip swap) glitch to equip inventory slots:
- 1488 (slot 2 hitbox)
- 3048 (slot 3 hitbox)
- 4608 (slot 4 hitbox)
- 6168 (slot 5 hitbox)
- 7728 (slot 6 hitbox)
- 9288 (slot 7 hitbox)
- 10848 (slot 8 hitbox)
And somehow corrupt these (ie eating them as consumables), it would enable very useful noclip and give us river/misma skip.
The problem is that the IDs at these slots are just garbage data, and would crash on equip. We would want these to line up with a consumable, or phoenix down, or ??? ulticite so that we could corrupt the data.
Semi related glitch to desync GC and GBA command lists
Some of the interesting results from Gil Equip:
A weird setup for equipping Clavat weapons (up to Rune Blade). Not very good or useful, probably.
It is possible to "equip a command slot in a command slot". Here are some setup videos:
Note: Setups for command slots 3, 5, and 6 are useless, because they require 5 artifacts.
There are no different artifacts required for these, so these will NOT be easier in any situation.
This is starting to get a bit information dense, so it's time to make a new thread.
We can equip inventory slots outside of normal inventory range to our command list slots. This gives us access to items that we do not technically have.
The way it works is:
- Letter glitch to pause the gamecube while GBA is unpaused
- Opening the artifacts menu while game is paused queues the artifact list load
- Open command list. This instantly loads command list.
- Unpause the game. Artifact memory overrides command list memory
We just need to collect artifacts that allow us to equip the "gil inventory slot"

Crafting Lizard Wizard (0218), Abbadon (021A), or anything else is seemingly impossible unless we find a way to:
- Wrong craft from Merchant (The menu is accessible via wrong menu Treasure Menu => Craft Menu, but the craft fails)
- Wrong craft from Non-merchants without command list ruining our memory setups.
In other words, Skeleton / Lizard Skirmish / 3214 are the only glitched items available. (Note: 3214 is crafted from Skeleton, and is extremely crashy due to being outside the valid item range)
Also, leaving a letter open, then opening a Merchant buy menu seems to allow for additional craft menu memory manipulations
Useless, but steps for Tipa Lizard Skirmish:
- Buy 8 food items (any)
- Drop 1
- Open command list
- Drop all remaining inventory food
- Open artifact list
- Open command list. Wrong craft from tailor.
Requires Clavat, Merchant, Tailor
We can almost bypass Skeleton by equipping a shield to mainhand instead. This bypasses menu crashes when switching to single-player.
However, this weapon will crash in many dungeons. Skeleton crashes too, but the crashes are avoidable.
These are the two methods I have found for crafting Skeleton
The 1 merchant trip method seems inconsistent for the accessory craft, and it fails a lot. But it's faster with good RNG.
Skeleton (03 28) may be better than Lizard Skirmish (02 17). It seems to crash less.
Focus weapon attacks can be chained "in the void" to get back in bounds
Focus attacks have a cooldown of ~3s, and warp the player ~3700 units in the direction held. This can be done RTA.
Each OOB slingshot is a fixed distance (About ~3700 units), so you just triangulate to get to loading zones. 1 focus attack to get oob 1 to warp to triangulation spot 1 warp to get to loading zone
Health hacks used in these videos, but should be possible with food.
All setups can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13PfbJgxfLsa89DvYtD2gSSSW8tC5XFlvUUTqPhOFo74/edit#gid=0
Clavat "Lizard Weapons" are interesting because they can potentially lead to dungeon skips.
Also, if we could craft item id 0x02 1A, this would give us the ability to do Blitzaga +2. This may be possible via Wrong Craft on Clavat.
