Those clips sound good.

If I may add, I see you have Discord. We do have a Discord (link on the left). You will probably get a quicker answer from a mod on there.

Also recording a run will show people and mods the proposed category, route and rough timings.

Good luck! We do need more shorter categories so I can run them 😉

Okay, I understand you now. There is no way to grab the bell without triggering "Get into the Model Village".

As for the purple fence, I wasn't sure if you could clip through as I have been sock clipping out the bottom of Tina's (Lady's) fence.

I am guessing you have been clipping through the alley between Back Gardens and High Street both in and out?

As for the category you proposed, you will have to wait for a Mod to answer.

How would you go about exiting both High Street and Back Gardens the way it was intended, without doing a task. I'm just curious? I'm not sure what you mean by "task completed upon entrance the game can't be finished"? For both are we using glitches or glitchless?

Anyway, your proposed category would be.

Get into the Garden. Break the broom. Make someone break the fancy vase. Get in to Pub. Get into Model Village. Followed by bell return?

The game isnt that long, 45 mins on medium difficulty.

I think the best option is having Real Time, with separate loading times and have a new category for segmented which will be for in-game timers.

What about restricting the amount of restarts that can happen in one full run?

But a segmented category sounds like a better idea for the hardest difficulty. Or would it be easier to retime the runs on the leaderboard in real time and bring in separate load times?

I see where they are coming from as the in game timer is there, they don't want to lose the out with loading times etc. But at the same time doest feel like a true speedrun if they have the ability to have say one restart?

Hey all,

If a game has in game timers, but on restart checkpoint it does not add the time after the failed checkpoint, if someone legitimately failed and restarted the checkpoint and completed it, the final in game timer for that level is then incorrect.

If disabling restarting checkpoints, the harder difficulties are then very hard. And the hardest difficulty, you have to restart the level.

The community doesn't want to go rta and stick with in game time. Is it then a true speedrun if someone can repeat a level that they previously failed and the completed in game time is their final time for that level?

My thoughts are, letting the full game have at least one legit death and write off the failed time.

Allowing the restart checkpoint back and giving a penalty of say 20 seconds.

Allowing the restart of either checkpoint or restart and use the real time to add to the in-game time of both in games?

I am just unsure and need opinions please. Thank you for you time.

I'm not sure I'm understanding as I have now re-written this reply a few times.

The levels don't have a specific weapon load outs, you choose your weapons that are available between each level? Even when starting a completely new game.

After each level you gain your player exp level, which then unlocks the load out tree. (After level 5 if I remeber, I will have to check)

But what you wrote "Disable things unlocked later ingame" to me doesn't make sense as an any% NG category would allow you to access lockable traits/weapons later in game. And disabling this then creates a entirely new category? You could possibly disable it in individual levels, but see problem below.

As this was brought up before. The problem is, you cannot force the game to start fresh. If you wanted to start a completely new game, you will have to delete the save files in the Sniper Elite folders after every run, and reload the game each time to register the new game. Which is a bit of a pain. Unless you know an easier way of resetting a new game each run?

This to me sounds like you want a NG category without DLC weapons instead of NG+ with DLC weapons.

**When I get access to my computer I'll check again if there is a way you can start completely fresh without having to delete the save files, if this is what you mean?

Edit: Just checked if its possible and unfortunately it is not. Anyone looking into restarting the game as a fresh level 1 will need to navigate to; (You may have to unhide the hidden files to view AppData!) C:/Users/(Your Name)/AppData/Local/SniperElite4/PC_ProfileSaves and either copy the save files/folder to keep your main saves or just delete them.

Yeah individual levels will be slightly different to the full game. Which will have new routes etc, If we cannot upload at certain points. It's just in individual levels section it says any% not NG+ which confused me lol.

Yeah proving ground isn't really a level as such as you skip the whole of the second part and technically is part of any% new game.

I think DLC shouldn't be allowed as it does gain advantaged to any% as you have more unlocked at the beginning of a new game.

So with the individual levels we can have anything unlocked equipped?

Wondering if NG+ is a possibility? As I know of some problems with it.

How would Individual levels work as Altai Mountains skips the beginning? Usable items which needs to be unlocked? Don't know if its a glitch or not but once you completed the level the first time when you go back and play a previous level once you done say one mission and go and upload theres not button to continue only exit?

And just ran proving grounds and there is no timer at the end of the level..

Also DLCs allowed?

Until a mod says otherwise, the reason wasn't to ban the mouse's scroll wheel because of the drop grab bind, it was because no such thing is available on the Nintendo switch and gave pc and mac users an advantage.

There is only one glitch that I know of, and thats aiming down sight while walking/running over a ladder or edge to just "fall" and not hit the animation of grabbing the edge or ladder. I.E. at the beginning of viaduct's ladders.

(Also where is your 3m 57s on Abrunza? ;) )

Added the three categories. "make them into subcategories" Changed it into sub-categories, also it looks better as sub-categories. Any feedback is welcome.

I will look more into Allobjective% & Survival% :)

I want to add any% difficulties and possibly allobjectives% to the leaderboard. Its seems unfair some people have runs in authentic plus but there's only an any% (cadet). This will be applied to both Full-game and Individual level runs.

I propose 3 difficulties out of the 5 that's in the game. Purely for the fact that it only jumps up a little bit each difficulty. And each of these have a significant step up.

Any% (Cadet) - the easiest of the difficulties, ignores ballistics. Wherever you shoot the bullet, it will always hit the spot you aimed. Your weapons deal a lot more damage. Enemies are dumb meaning they take a lot longer to find you and are not as eager to search thoroughly in every place. (Already on the leaderboard and will not touch)

Any% Sniper Elite - full ballistics, bullet drop and wind are at their maximum, but aim assist will retain. Enemies are a lot sharper and a lot more alert. They will spot you easily, even the slightest movement in a bush. They also have more health, so will be harder to kill with suppressed weapons. They will continue searching for you longer and more thoroughly. The amount of health you lose doesn't regenerate.

Any% Authentic Plus - Maximum ballistics, bullet drop and wind. There is no interface or indicators available to the player. Aim assist is completely off and binoculars have restricted zoom. Reloading with rounds left in magazine disappear. Suppressed weapons can be heard if close enough to enemies. The AI are supernatural in their surroundings, they can spot you very quickly from afar. They can respawn either after a certain time or after an area you left.

Allobjectives% is essentially obtaining and completing both primary and optional objectives for each level. I have rerouted the first level, while I looked into routes for the second level, and its literally going to all 4 sides of the map. May be better if people are interested in co-op.

If anyone has feedback/criticism or any other category suggestions feel free to reply.
