For some reason, when I try to change my region I get the following text below the "reboot to system menu" option:

Saving... Unexpected Error: SYSCONF_SaveChanges Value: -1017

I tried to change all of my settings to Japanese / Japan, but after this only the language is changed. I can change everything back to English / USA just fine. What should I do about this? I tried to use Freethewads but I need some .exe file in order to run the GUI, and the download link on the website (and everything else I can find) is dead.

Edit: I used the wii region changer method on the TTYD speedrun.com page and it worked perfectly. Anyways, thanks for taking the time to help someone like me

I have successfully loaded the jp paper mario wad on my wii, but whenever I click start on the channel, it says "This channel can't be used". I have another japanese wad (super mario 64) on the same wii which works perfectly. What should I do to fix this?

Are you starting with the English version? If you're not, then you should start with English. I am currently learning TTYD too, as I played it through so much when it came out, and the tricks did seem daunting. The only one that still gives me trouble is bookcase jump. Fish glitch isn't that hard, as it's just pressing x then down. Goombella buffer can be tricky, but if you look on the english route almo gives a really good description on how to do it. There is a good bookcase jump tutorial by gamerob on youtube. Also, the wiki is awful, as it hasn't been updated in years, except for the routes portion. Also, superguarding iirc isn't required anywhere unless you screw up, it just saves time in some places. Good luck learning this great game!

I am currently trying to learn the English route for TTYD any%. I was able to get goombella buffer pretty easily, but bookcase jump has been really difficult for me. It just feels really random to me, even after watching ed's tutorial on youtube. I have gotten it 4 times in about three weeks of about an hour or two a day of practicing it. Normally after the spin jump I land right near the corner of the bookcase, but I can never get on top. Is the spin jump frame perfect or is there some way to get the timing down with a metronome like runners have done for uhe / yoshi skip?
