As somebody who loves this game, I thought it would be fun to look up its speedrun page. After seeing your run, I was left in awe. I'm thinking this game might be something I want to give a go at, but could you make some sort of pastebin describing all the information you've gathered so far? There looks to be a lot of intricate setup, and I think it would be nice to generally make this a more beginner-friendly game.
I agree, what was the initial reason for only adding one category?
Okay cool, thanks! I probably won't submit to there, just because I prefer to stick to SR.com and not make a bunch of extra tedious accounts for a game I'm not too serious about, but I appreciate the quick response!
As someone who hasn't been running for very long at all, I really do not mean to seem ignorant, but given the pretty decently linear quality of this game, wouldn't IL Leaderboards be pretty helpful for a game such as this? I may be being slightly biased since I think IL's are fantastic, but in every circumstance I've witnessed, they seem to do nothing but grow the community and greatly improve the likelihood of beginners (such as myself) to get into a game that would otherwise seem difficult to approach. Just my view on it though, let me know what the deal is with it!
I'd say that's a good choice, I feel as if the anticipation has me myself jumping the gun sometimes, but that's just me.
And do you use arrow key inputs or mouse clicks?
That sounds reasonable. I'm not really sure how seriously I wanna take this game, just thought it'd be fun to relive, and IL categories seem to me to be a short but easy way to practice full runs.
Would the timing for In-Level runs start upon hitting go? And then presumably end when you touch the final kelp seed of the level?
Thanks! I'll probably still upload my runs to this website, but I appreciate the help!
I've only so far dipped my toe into the world of Sonic Speedrunning, so forgive me if I come across foolish, but wouldn't this game be almost perfect for level-specific leaderboards? Not only would it give more focus to precise optimization, but I feel as if it would also make the game a little more inviting to new runners (such as myself). Just an idea being thrown out there, let me know what you think.
