@SpeedRunFan2022 Just check the rules for the category - it uses a "WCG" ruleset (WCG stands for World Cyber Games - a tournament that used to be held for various different games, including the Need for Speed franchise at one point, and we still use their rulesets to this day).
...but in a nutshell, for Carbon, it stands for no Z06/Audi and no NOS
he's not logged in to any GFWL profile - that's why there's no "SENDING RESULTS" message at the end of races and no leaderboard, and that's why his player name is, well, "PLAYER" :)
Oh yeah, about that - I did want to add the Speed events to the IL leaderboard, however, I couldn't because my game is in czech and I don't know the english names haha
If you'd send me the tracks you'd like to be added (with english names), I'd be happy to add them to the leaderboard :)
@cuzYnot I gave it some thought back then, but there's a lot of issues to be resolved if you'd like to see these gamemodes on the leaderboards (ones which weren't even resolved when the stunts and races categories got added).
The biggest problem by far is the way you'd time these categories. FO3 loadings are "weird" to put it nicely, and they vary a lot on plenty of computers. That's why I think using RTA timing for categories with only a couple of events (such as All Stunts) is simply not going to work. The correct move would be to use IGT timing method for the most parts, however that brings up two more issues - first one being categories which do not have a timer (great example being All Stunts yet again), and the second being FO3's transition which does not display all times immediately, and which makes skipping showing your final time pretty easy, meaning we wouldn't even be able to check going through the VODs frame by frame.
There's a lot of problems that need to be fixed before introducing more categories to the leaderboards, problems which I can't really solve. That's why I haven't added any yet.
I don't think that's really necessary - first of all, I'm not sure how accessable this demo is (getting your hands on the game itself is quite a feat nowadays). Second, I'm not sure how this would work with the leaderboards - I'd put such a game into the category extensions, but making those for a game like this is a bit of an overkill. You're free to do a run of a demo if you want to, but I don't think we'll ever see a leaderboard for it on the site)
As far as I know (back when Madsandy and GGeek were mods) - Wipeout Pure IL leaderboards always accepted full races instead of laps, since the amount of laps that you have to do changes for each difficulty. That's why there are leftovers like this (I'm not 100% sure as it's been quite some time ago but I'm pretty positive it was this way)
Hey there! Sorry for the delay that it took for us to get to you. Anyways, I've been set as a moderator for FO3 in the recent months, and as such I finally took a look at the game's leaderboards.
First of all, I finally added rules for the "Unlock all Races/Stunts" categories (now known as All Races/All Stunts), so that should be dealt with and the categories should be easily runnable.
Second, I'm down for adding the Speed category (and you might see that on the leaderboard very soon), but personally I see no reason for adding the Nightshift events, as they're pretty much the same as the race events. Some events should have their own category, and some definitely shouldn't. If you want to contact me, or the rest of the moderator team, and discuss some more stuff regarding categories/rules, feel free to do so in the FlatOut Speedrunning discord server ( https://discord.gg/SS7w3nv ).
Hopefully I was helpful, and once again, apologies for the delay :D
Greetings! I finally got around to take a look at this game after some time, and found out that the rules were in a pretty bad state. As such, I (after getting a greenlight) have decided to make some changes.
These are the changes:
-
Changed timing method from "confirming a race" to "opening the career menu" for all the categories. This is because it is possible to buy a car and upgrades with the timer still being stopped. Similar timing method has been used for other FlatOut titles in the past, and has been changed as well.
-
Changed rules for "completion of classes". Until now, all you had to do was finish all the cups with races (following the example of FO2). However, FlatOut 2 would consider the class completed on 100% without completing the bonus events, which is not the case in this game. The achievement "Speed Junkie", which is being awarded for completing the career, does not trigger until you finish all categories on 100% in-game as well. Because of this, it has been decided that from now on, you have to finish the Time Trial/Survivor events as well in order to finish said category.
-
Removed "Classic class" and "All-Star class" categories from the leaderboard. We don't have savefiles ready for these (unlike with FO1 and FO2) which would create an uneven playing field. These categories might come back in the future.
With this, the leaderboards should be ready for your potentional submissions. See you there! :)
I'd also like to give credits to @jhheight, who came up with the idea for the category and discussed some stuff regarding the category with us.
Since the timing is a bit complicated as of now, I'm working on a very simple calculator, which should allow you to keep track of your pace and your completed tracks in the run, which should be released in resources soon (hopefully).
That's all from me, see you on the racetrack!
Pretty sure it's not. You can never tell what is being affected by the mod, when some weird shenanigans happen, if you can chalk it up to the game itself or the fact that it's content has been changed. Just stick to using unmodified game for runs)
it's all outcome of SRC having IL leaderboards the way they are. WCG and NO NOS have the only difference in Corvette/R8 being banned in WCG runs, and since challenge series have set cars, they're just filling up the WCG board with N/A runs, showing they do not accept any runs there :)
The fact that resources no longer show game-related stuff but instead redirect us to a place about programs like OBS, that's some kind of a bad joke right? :)
Any% on it's own is pretty much the main category for 99% of all the games in terms of speedrunning, so I don't think it should be pushed in behind like that. If you want to sort things solely based of on how many people play certain category we might as well put 100% in the middle, classes in the back etc. etc.
There isn't particular reason for that, we don't need category on every single cup separated)) (Not to mention coming up with the amount of starter cash for 3 cars and all that would be just a mess)
G.
is for Glitchless category. (but honestly - B )
Join this Discord server - https://discord.gg/gKQskf - we are currently discussing the rules, retiming the runs etc. - I don't know why the server isn't mentioned here (somebody already added it, hooray)
