If by "abuse the coordinate system" you mean find the coordinates of planets with objects that are scannable and then write down the coordinates then yes. However I also believe that you have to delete your player/universe files(or at least move them somewhere else) every time you start a full game run so you cannot setup a planet with all of the scannable objects you need ahead of time(even though this isn't officially mentioned in the rules).

As for mods, I would say that using an fps mod is probably still illegal(even if vanilla performance if crap) although I, for one, am totally for having some sort of alternate category where FPS mods are legal.

At the moment no mods are allowed in any sort of starbound speedrun. As for weapons and Armour, if you're running ILs then you can use anything that is obtainable through normal game play at any point of the game but, if you want to speedrun the full game, then you will need to delete your character and universe files in the game files and make a new character(although you can also save a copy of your game data on your computer and restore it at anytime).

I've recently been trying to beat Evilrainbow's current Human mission IL and I might just be seeing things but I swear that he somehow moves faster than i'm able too in the air when he dashes.

Just to clarify I'm not trying to imply he's cheating i'm just wondering if there is something i'm not doing that he is. Also this is not a version difference thing I have checked.

I agree with Ziskal. I think if certain items are not allowed in certain runs then that needs to be specified in the rules. Also I think the universe in the game should have to be reset after each run since, as Johnboy989898 mentioned in the missions thread, all characters are in the same universe so you could just write down all the coordinates of any planets that have scannable items and just reuse those for every run. The rules are vary unclear about all of this.

But what if, for example, I am only doing the avian mission. Then without cheating couldn't I just go out and get the best gear in the game legit and then come back and run the avian mission?

In all the category descriptions all it says is that you have to beat certain missions and no use of admin mode during the run. Does this mean I am allowed to cheat in characters with the best gear in the game and just run the missions so long as the gear my characters have is obtainable without doing the missions first(this only really applies to the opening mission of the game). Also if I am allowed to spawn in with items I am not able to get until after the opening mission then cant I just spawn my character in with all the items I need to scan then place them down and scan them?

Since Starbound is now released I think the leaderboards/categories need to be updated to the released version of the game. I think a good way to do this would be to change this Starbound leaderboard to something like "Pre-release Starbound" and then make a new starbound leaderboard just called starbound that would be for modern starbound. Or you could just change this one but then to make things fair you would have to delete the old runs.

I recently started learning the new engine route but I have been having trouble learning to wall climb. I can still wall climb but I can never get as high as I need too before the item falls out from under me and I have to try again. I was wondering whether I just needed to practice more or if I need to install the source unpack thing. Any advice is appreciated.

been trying to learn portal OoB but having trouble with Quantum crouch. I have the correct version installed and Im not sure what im doing wrong. I thought Quantum crouch was just pressing crouch after begging the crouch animation but that isn't working for some reason.
