This is one of the most active games in speedrun.com. Mods aren't checking speedrun.com everyday. Most of them are in high school or college now. My runs usually took 1- 1 and a half months to be verified.
First frame of character movements and ends when the You win screen first appears. It's stated in the rules
Mods will retime your run. The time starts the frame before you have any time in the IGT (In game timer) it ends as soon as the IGT says 0. I use my mouse buttons for my splits but you can do numpads, f12, insert, etc. make it a keybind thats easy to press but also u dont use.
Obs is the best program out there. There's a lot of tutorials and ways to make it look the best way possible. It's free and you can set how many FPS you want (60 is always recommended for speedruns)
It's pretty accurate but most times when runs are retimed they can g from a 1:57 to a 1:56 for example. You just have to have a comfortable hotkey.
You want it to pause at the end of each level? Just in case the timing method is RTA not LRT. Theres no autospliters for SR4 at the moment so u would have to press the pause button manually. If that's what you mean
Not sure what you mean by "automatic checkpoints"? If u could send a reference or Smth it would be easier
If you mean why it doesn't save while running is because when you finish a run you can press the reset hotkey and it will ask u to update your best time. Then click yes
If you mean why doesn't it save. When you exit there's an option to save your splits (each split data) and your preferred layout. If for some reason it doesn't appear you can right click on livesplit and click on "save splits" or "save splits as". Hopefully this was helpful.
It's like gambling u either get it or not. One thing that some people do is disable fullscreen and just when you are on the edge u right click the top of the window and then as soon as you release you jump. still very inconsistent

The run is completely legal. The death wasn't from resetting so the run is legal.
The run time was edited. (Run was frame counted by me)
