Hello. Recently the moderator team of one game I am moderator of have done a reorganization of the leaderboards. After it, however, while moving all runs to different category, one of them that was former World Record disappeared.

I checked what could've happened and it appears that the run was deleted. No of us, moderators, deleted any runs, so the user must've deleted it some time ago, but even yesterday I remember it appearing on the leaderboard.

Is it possible to somehow know the time which was submitted by the speedrunner? Audit Log is not helpful enough, because apart from being a proof that this kind of run actually existed, the link that was attached to that run doesn't work anymore.

My point is that it would be cool to include this result as a historical entry.

Starting from 27th March 2021, a great reorganization of the leaderboards has taken action. The main purpose of it was to make Happy Jump's leaderboards to have more speedrun-related elements, because before there were not any of them. Second thing was to double check every verified run due to a little bit too chaotic and unclear method that had been used in the past.

Thanks to @RENI, several new speedrunning categories were created. They are called as "Points" and "Death". The former has also five speedrunning subcategories (1,000; 5,000; 10,000; 20,000; 50,000 points). The rules for the categories mentioned above has been already created, including updating the section of "Game Rules" that was previously empty, unfortunately.

High Score leaderboard has been reformed as well. All previously verified runs (I mean, those that were verified before 26th march 2021, including this day) from the old "High Score" leaderboard dedicated to Happy Jump, and "Ice Cream Jump" dedicated to its clone, have been double-checked. I have noticed that many runs no longer have any source availble to be a proof showing clearly the time that was reached by a speedrunners, however as long as they are not deleted as runs, they are going to stay on the leaderboard, since they were once verified in the past.

Speaking of clones, a separate Misc. category was created for the highscore runs of two clones of Happy Jump, which are: Ice Cream Jump and Happy Poo Jump.

If you have any other suggestions, opinions or objections regarding the recent huge reorganization of Happy Jump's leaderboard, feel free to write them below this post or just by contacting one of the moderators.

This thread is dedicated to discussing about the new method of retiming runs that is going to take effect after 21st February 2021.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Greetings! If you have any ideas about new categories that might be good to be added to the leaderboard, feel free to share your thoughts in this thread. :-)

Hello!

The first categories added shortly after Google Hot Air Balloon had appeared on Speedrun.com can be divided into two groups:

  • highscore category: Highscores
  • speedrun categories: 1,000; 5,000; 10,000.

This thread will present informations about changes in the leaderboards.

I have a question regarding Full Game (Legacy). Can new runs be submitted with a chance of being verified? I mean a situation in which you play on the current version of the game, but play only those two first Worlds.

I have already submitted two runs showing Full Game after Far North update. One is a regular full-game run of all currently availble Worlds (there are three of them), but I submitted also another run for the Legacy category, by cutting off the fragment of the same video to make it show only Worlds 1-2. Here comes another question I would like to is. Is that kind of situation allowed, or should I record a separate run (if yes, then can it be on the newest version)?

Hello. Don't forget to read the rules before submitting runs for PowerUp categories. Both for ILs and for Full game runs a power-up has to be used at least once. It doesn't matter if it will be actually helpful or not.

Submitted runs that won't meet this requirement will be verified as NoPowerUp% runs.

As for Full game runs, while it is not mandatory, I highly encourage to write down all in-game times of all levels (failed attempts included) and to distinguish somehow (i.e. by adding the proper information) the level or levels during which a power-up was used.

Hello. Since the game has been updated, it would be cool to add the new World called Far North. :-) I'm planning to speedrun it and submit a speedrun of Far North Any% soon.

The mod team decided to apply IGT (in-game time) timing method to estimate the time of submitted runs. It's basically the time that the in-game timer shows after finishing a level.

While the situation is pretty clear with Individual Level runs, it is slightly different for full-game runs due to their specificity. IGT of that kind of runs is combined time of every level (including failed attempts) that eventually allows mods to be summed up into total and final time of a run.

Also, the game's rules has been added at last, with this method included if course in their descriptions.

Hello! I'll try to do my best as the new moderator of this game. :-)

Announcement #1

The game has been accepted and added on 14th December 2020.

All main categories (and subcategories as well) and ILs categories have been added shortly after, same as the rules dedicated to each of them.

The rest of things that are still to be added (i.e. general rules or a guide with detailed instruction on how to retime the runs properly) will be added as fast as it is possible.

I've been submitting two runs one after another, and while I wanted to submit the second one, suddenly a weird message appeared after I tapped "Submit" button:

"Your security token is invalid. This most likely means that someone tried to trick you into doing stuff you do not want."

I wanted to log out and log in again, but this message popped out again, so I closed the tab and opened a new one. I was still logged in etc., but I could log off without any problems and log in again after receiving a verification on my e-mail. There were no problems with submitting my run after that either.

What could be the reason this message have appeared? That my session had expired when I wanted to submit my run or something else maybe?

Hello! How about creating two separate subcategories for each main category that would differ in the way of estimating the final result of the run?

What I'm talking about is to differ runs by the real time of the run (RT) and their in-game times (IGT). By that we would have i.e. two separate leaderboards for Any% that would include times of the runs based either on RT or IGT.

This idea came up to my mind after seeing how this distinction between RT and IGT makes some runs simply look weird on the leaderboard. I'm talking about situations in which a run with worse IGT (by several seconds) was placed way higher than slightly worse or slightly higher than way better runs, simply because the RT indicator was more favorable in its case.

This thread will be the place in which announcements about all important changes related to speedruning Gopogo (i.e. connected with the timing method) are going to be presented.

Hello! I would like to suggest adding a new platform on which this game is available, which is Android. I made a run on it so it would be cool to be able to submit it. :) Same goes for other people who might play this game in the future on Android devices and who will want to submit their runs.

The game is getting more and more popular among speedrunners, so how about adding a miscellaneous category called "One Ball Challenge"?

I came up with this idea some time ago on Discord. Basically, it would be a Misc. category in which a players have to go through as much holes as it is possible, but with only using one ball per hole. If you need to hit the ball more than once to succeed, then it is equal to finishing the run. The final score would be the number of the last hole that was hit successfully with only one attempt.

While time wouldn't matter in that kind of category, there could be implemented a system of 1 point = 1 millisecond that is present on many leaderboards of a lot of games that have score-based categories.

We could also implement a system of highscores showing the amount of holes passed with only one ball that would be right next to the time. It would show raw scores before converting them to milliseconds. Everything just to make this categorie's leaderboard look more aesthetic.

About bonus hole and whether it should be counted as a hole... It can be discussed later as something that can be a moot point for many people.

What do you think about it?

Hello! I've got a question about boosts that can be bought in game with those coins you can gather during the run.

Are boosts such as armored helmet allowed to use while doing a run? If not, then are there any exceptions (boosts that are allowed), or the run have to be without them?

Polandcoachen4 years ago

Hello. How about creating one more category called "Death" or "Death%" that would work like already existing "Hat" category, with that difference that it would require to lose the game by basically dying in any way?

Times could be measured with the first frame after tapping start/retry button, as a starting point, and could end with the first frame of "game over" message.

What do you think about it?

In order to measure times of my runs as precise as it is possible and in the easiest possible way as well, I tried out Slush Puppy's Retime Tool. From what I heard many moderators use it during the verification process of new runs.

So far I am really satisfied with it. It's easy to use, precise, user-friendly, doesn't require to download a video to time a run.

However, after I downloaded it from he source at https://github.com/Slush0Puppy/retime and tried to run it, Windows warned me that app is of unknown origin (...), but I ignored it and launched it, since I didn't have any worries about this popular software used by many speedrunners.

SPRT worked completely fine and my antivirus software did not find anything suspicious or something. I have a habit of checking downloaded files with VirusTotal, so I checked SPRT as well. I was pretty surprised to see that it had 4 threats detected as a .zip file and 7 threats (malware, trojans, malicious software and such) after I checked the folder after unzipping downloaded catalogue. The file which caused the most problems, according to VirusTotal, was the main one, I mean: !speedrun retime tool v1.2.0.exe

Anyway, moving straight to the question I wanted to ask: why VirusTotal's scan found not one or two, but several possible threats in that file? Are they really false positives that sometimes appear when you scan various files (i.e. from GitHub), or are those files really infected? I don't believe it's the latter since this app works completely fine, is very popular (I am myself thankful to Slush Puppy for creating that kin of helpful software), doesn't require any special permissions or similar stuff, but I wanted to ask just to assure myself in 100%.

I would like to say "hello" to everyone. :) Some weeks ago I have become interested in speedrunning and lately I decided to try it myself. So far I enjoy it. My favorite platforms to play are PC and mobile devices.

My current goal is to reach a time below 8 minutes (any%) in DuckTales (Disney Afternoon Collection). With this goal reached I will be ready to share my score with everyone on the leaderboard. Until then I will stick to other games I guess.
