sorry didnt notice that but a normal pause can still be abused and could be taken to the extreme like taking screenshots, watching back vod or something
You can abuse the fact that something in real life was affecting your speedrun.

I dont think pausing should invalidate your speedrun i just think it should add to the time. And if something happened where you had to pause i guess thats just unfortunate, and the problem with that is that you could make that an excuse if you paused somewhere in the run to gather thoughts calm nerves or other stuff.
The rule was any pauses during triangulation should be added to the final time. And brentilda followed all the rules and the final time should still be 9:38 cause thats the rules. You cant just apply a rule that isnt made yet to a wr that followed the rules that was enforced at the time.
You asked "What advantage?" which is not very specific, but pauses can have advantages over not pausing which is what he made a small list of
"trigonometric calculations to best locate the stronghold" will be added to the final time anyways with the rules we have now.
No there shouldn't cause it isnt a part of the rule set yet. Brentilda was playing after the rules.
Maybe if you read the rules you would understand that if you pause to do math when triangulating the stronghold it will count towards time :) Also brentilda isn't unknown. And he followed all rules on speedrun.com so it should be verified if he didn't cheat which i dont believe he did :)
When someone gets a wr theres always the people that are like "hmm, they did something that i haven't heard of before! they must be cheating! 😎"

I don't think there's anything amazing or great about set seed runs, it's not really an achievement if you already know where everything is
What if he just tried to make it look good on stream? And the chat thing, i didnt see it cause there isnt a timestamp but that could just be the stream delay and the camera couldnt sharply catch the chat. Btw im not trying to defend niftski i just wanna point out this.
