No problem, always feel free to ask questions. I personally feel like the filters on this site are under utilized. While they could probably be improved, I’ve seen a lot of games create an awful number of layered sub categories for things that the filters could handle more easily.

What exactly would that accomplish? You can already use the filters to only show runs with or without video.

I’m not sure why creating subcategories makes sense, the no video one could just get spammed with fake times nonstop.

Font looks perfectly fine for me, no changes that I’ve seen.

I mean there’s not much you can do with it lol. It tracks splits, whether it’s for a run or whatever you did, that’s all it can do. It’s not like it can be used for much else.

Unless you’re talking about it using it to time things outside of running a game (something silly like timing how long it takes to run to the store).

AntarcticaTimmiluvs6 years ago

You should never cut audio from a run. Missing audio is a huge red flag of splicing since it’s much easier to hack together individual segments when there’s no audio to also match up. I’m not saying that’s what you’re trying to do, but it can definitely raise questions about a run.

Why personal information was revealed in your run I don’t know, I would always advise that you never reveal anything personal in a recording. If you’re having something like a discord chat for some reason while recording, instead of cutting audio, look into just sending the audio to a stream/your headphones instead of the recording, so that way you can have a clean recording without any extra audio layered over it.

@EmeraldAly It doesn’t take 5 seconds to determine if a game request should be accepted. Granted, I don’t know the process, but I can assume there’s multiple steps to it.

 • Make sure the game doesn’t already exist on the site.
 • Check the provided information link about the game to make sure the game is fully released as well as to better understand the type of game it is (which can help to verify the incoming run).
 • Verify the run. You can’t approve a game request if the run isn’t legit. I’m not sure if the full run is always watched, but I know they watch a good portion of it at least.
 • Part of the above is to also make sure that a legit attempt was made at the run (ie. the run shows some attempt at routing and strats as opposed to a playthrough).

I’m sure there’s a number of games that probably can be rejected in 5 seconds like all the crappy flash ones, but I’d imagine that a legit game request takes more thinking and research than you’re thinking it does.

Again I could be off base about what is actually done, but the above is what I can guess the process is based off of what I’ve seen Mods say over the years about the process.

With all due respect, it’s not our job to research you and your runs to try and guess your interests. Most people here don’t have a desire to help someone who doesn’t explicitly state what types of games they’re looking for because it goes a lot like this thread already has.

“Try game x, y or z” “No I don’t like those” “Try game a, b, or c” “No I don’t like those”

We’re not just gonna sit here all day and keep posting games if you don’t do anything to help us, nobody has time for that. Also, having looked at your profile, it looks like you’ve run games in a few different genres so it’s not much to go on (also, just because you ran a game like Fallout doesn’t mean you like RPGs, maybe it was a one time run and you didn’t like it).

Additionally, if you don’t like a lot of games then this is a weird hobby for you in my opinion. Part of this hobby is liking the games you’re running because if you don’t, you’ll get frustrated, bored and burnt out easily. All of that removes the fun from something like this. It’s why that’s always the go to recommendation, because we don’t want people to get annoyed trying to run games they don’t enjoy playing.

We’ll be glad to offer our help, but you need to help us as well. If you have a decent PC, your options are quite numerous since you can run tons of older games through emulator instead of just running native PC games.

Why not just upload them to google docs/sheets and post a link in a guide? I’ve seen that done a bunch and it’ll probably look cleaner than any kinda auto embed the site can do (and would also prevent the need to virus scan each file and prevent the need to host them somewhere for download)

Just run the game using one of those consoles, there’s no difference in this regard since both can play a Wii game.

Dolphin is an inaccurate emulator, you’ll be hard pressed to find a Wii or GC game that lets you use it. It’s often quite faster than a real console so it’s not usually allowed since it’s unfair.

Most games/communities have their own discords for discussion, help, etc. so find a game you want to run and check the forums/side bar for links to the discords.

I know this isn’t a bot and it’s an actual user, but his constant, pointless threads are basically the same as a bot at this point. Not sure how you want to deal with it since I know he’s been talked to before about this iirc https://www.speedrun.com/user/ElliottisCool123

Upload the screenshot to an image sharing website like imgur (or if you use a tool like gyazo it’ll create a link for you when you take the screenshot) and then put the link in the description; it will auto embed. You can also put the image link in the video link field and it’ll do the same thing, but that looks confusing to someone who then thinks your run should have a video.

The video link is always present on the form, but you don’t always have to use it.

LotBlind has been around since the SDA days. Posting a video doesn’t automatically make someone an advertising bot...

And they’ve done absolutely nothing to troll anyone. They posted a video on a topic and opened it up for people to discuss the topic in the video. There’s nothing trolling with this.

What a weird post.

Define “cheap”.

The Logitech C920 is a pretty solid webcam that will run you about $50 or so I believe. It comes with a little tripod so that might help with finding a place to play and record.

The two most common ways I’ve seen games reduce lag is to do what others have mentioned and alter the camera so there’s less stuff on the screen (look at the sky, the ground, scroll the camera to get sprites offscreen, etc) or to defeat enemies if there’s a lot of them. Sometimes wasting a few seconds to kill a few enemies makes up for having a large screen where there’s a ton of them and then you end up losing more time overall to some slowdown.

I don’t know much about lemmings, but I do agree that 15-20 minutes of slowdown seems way excessive. I’d check other runs of the game to see if other runners experience it to. If they do, then you’re probably screwed, but if they don’t, then it might be caused by something on your end (like a weak computer or a bad ROM or something else technical).

From the rules of the mini game LB:
Timing is based on In Game Time!

Valid Proof:

 • Video of the Level you attempt (From Entering the Level to Finishing the Dialogue with the NPC after completing the challenge.)
 • Screenshot of the dialogue with your final time <———

Restrictions:

 • NO Emulators Allowed
 • NO Restore Points
 • Use of an Action Replay, or any Gameshark device of sorts is banned
It’s good practice to always check the rules before doing a run of any game to avoid issues like this in the future.

Your question is answered by just looking at the item list for Max% Child. The only one child can’t get is Spirit Medallion, primarily because of not being able to equip Mirror Shield.

1-2 weeks to verify runs is perfectly acceptable, there is no rule that says they have to verify a run within days of its submittal. Most of the mods on that game are very active on the site, if you want to be a mod, you need to contact them (in other words you can’t go around the backs of the current mods to give yourself any power).
