AntarcticaBased on what you're saying, it sounds like you're playing a PC game. I don't do any PC gaming so this is a lot of guessing on my part, but in order to get LiveSplit to show up when covering it with a full screen game, you need to capture it through I think Window Capture. What this will do is capture the window of the application, rather than the area of the screen it's on. This will allow you to see LiveSplit in XSplit even if it's covered with another application like the game.
As for controlling it, Global Hotkeys should still work, but a lot of people run the game in Windowed/Widescreen mode to make sure that it's still controllable and easier to see for you (you can search the forums here for similar questions/solutions to this). Or, if you have a second monitor or a spare TV you can hook up to your computer, this is trivial since you can have the game on one screen and LiveSplit and XSplit on the other.
Unfortunately that's the best help I can offer with what little understanding I'm gleaning from your posts.
I still not sure I understand what you’re asking. LiveSplit by default always shows only a timer, you need to add splits and a layout yourself if you want to make it look any different; look up tutorials online if you’re curious or need more information.
Also, LiveSplit by default only responses to key presses when it’s in focus (when you’re clicked on it). If you want to control is eve while clicked into a different window/app, enable Global Hotkeys in LiveSplit so any key press you do will do the designated action in LiveSplit.
That’s the correct answer, the mods and communities for a game decide what emulators and what versions of them to allow. There are certain staples that are (usually) always allowed or banned, but always check the rules of the game for specifics and ask the mods if you’re still unsure.

You can use either of those searches to find a game that meets your requirements. Good luck, because with that many competitors, it's going to take you a while to ever grind a game well enough for a WR, a lot of those games have very optimized times because of the amount of people who have run them over the years.
You need to ask the mods of the game, they’re the ones who add categories to games. You can post your request on the game’s forum.

Most Wii games ban emulator and USB loafers because they artificially increase performance from the regular console. But @Lieutenant_Boo is correct, it’s up to the games’ communities to decide what they want to allow, so always check with the mods and/or the rules of the game.
Uhh what do you mean? XSplit works the same way OBS just with a different interface. You start XSplit, you start LiveSplit, then you capture LiveSplit in XSplit using (I think) window capture on the LiveSplit window. Running them together is dead simple, can you elaborate on what issues you’re having?

Yeah you can’t create two separate boards for the same game. You either need to talk to the mods about adding the categories you want or use a different site to host the competition. This site isn’t really equipped to handle competitions anyway unless people are just comparing times. Most communities use a site like challonge to host a tournament. But if you’re just trying to do a “fastest run” competition, it sounds like a great way to get a bunch of people doing runs of the game and category which could provide the mods with enough reason to add it afterwards.
Yeah that skin is passed around both the MM and OOT communities a lot. You probably just need ask someone there for it. I believe it’s called GC-Tron or something like that, and there’s like 4 different versions of it (dpad, no dpad, pressure sensitive triggers, regular triggers, and all combinations of those)

Hi, just checking out this thread now. I haven't run this game in almost 2 years (I have no desire to go back, not a fan of how XBox and PS2 are side-by-side since XBox can create unbeatable runs for PS2 b/c of loading), so I haven't looked into this any more since I first did it a couple years ago.
But, it's awesome to see other people taking in interest in this and how it works on other versions of the game besides PS2. I'd love to see anything documented on it, since it's a topic that still interests me greatly. I'd love to see this game broken down into some more manipulable states.
Don’t use FFSplit, seriously. I know that’s probably not the answer you want but there’s a reason the FFSplit forums are dead. OBS is just the way to go for broadcasting and recording and since OBS Studio is multi platform there’s no reason not to use it. I’d make the switch to that and see if that solves your problem.
Welcome to speedrunning. Whether people think they get on edge or not, you would be hard pressed to find anybody who doesn’t get jolts of adrenaline or something when they’re on a good run. The trick is composing yourself and still remembering everything you have to do. How you do that is up to you as different things work for everybody. Also, don’t let every small mistake matter unless your time in the game is super optimal. Something small, even though it may be something dumb and a stupid mistake on your part, won’t ruin a run unless you let it. Obviously sometimes a death can be a run killer, but if you’ve got a minute to save later on and you lose 30 seconds to something silly - don’t stop and don’t obsess over it. Still continue and shoot for the time save later on. A lot of times it’s the dwelling on the small stuff and the “I shouldn’t have made such a dumb mistake” thoughts that makes runners spiral down and end the runs. The small stuff will never matter unless the game and the time are hyper optimized.
That’s not a site bug. The site doesn’t host Twitch videos, it only embeds them. If you can’t play them, it’s a problem on your end or with Twitch. FWIW, I can watch them fine.
@BigBoiRacoonix I believe that is a bug in the new site layout that the full mods and staff have beta access to. At least that was what I heard from the discord when this first happened, I’m not sure if there’s been any updates on it since then or if it’s been shown to happen to regular users too.
I’m pretty sure that the videos and notes currently available in the Guides are mostly up to date aside from small boss strategies. And both the notes and videos should be pretty identical.
Are you sure you’re not seeing the differences between English and Japanese? English has a glitch Japanese doesn’t that allows you to get the Earthshine early in TT1, which by extension makes TT2 shorter. That’s probably the differences you’re seeing, if you need clarification on what each route does, let us know what version you’re playing on.
