Idk @doraplaz, I think people r just giving their opinion as you rn. I’m okay with whatever the decision ends being. But I think it’s going to stay the same though which is okay for me. What I don’t like is that people think that 1.18 is a disadvantage because it isn’t, you just need to get used to it and learn the patterns that I said earlier so, yes.
I really think it’s not necessary a 1.18 new category because basically the difference is just that there are no lava pools and that’s it, I play 1.18 and I got an unofficial PB of 33:25 from a RSG and it was in hard difficulty so, I think that it’s okay if there’s no new category I don’t mind if they actually add one but I consider it unnecessary. So, if a player that plays in hard mode with a controller did a 33:25 run, then I think that all people could get a good run in 1.18 and still will be fair.
You don’t need a lava pool to get a good time you know. As I just said stronghold villages have a more fixed pattern in 1.18 which means that you can blind to them just by knowing terrain generation. 1.18 is a game full of new knowledge and i think it’s really OP to know stronghold’s location just with terrain so, I really think we don’t need another category or maybe yes if stronghold blinding gets even more OP. So, ik that terrain sucks but, having the power to know stronghold’s location is OP and you can get a really good time. And anyways if you still think it’s bad, remember that speedrunning it’s not just to get in a leaderboard it’s because of passion. And I read all the comments btw.
And anyways, there are almost no 1.18 runs at all so, I think that it’s okay if it stays how it is.
I think 1.18 is even better for getting stronghold villages because now they have a more fixed pattern. In 1.16/1.17 stronghold villages spawned kind of randomly but now in 1.18 there are some fixed patterns for the stronghold villages. Ik that you have some terrain disadvantages but it’s totally worth it because you have this amazing patterns and it makes it even better for speedrunning. So basically, I think it’s okay if there’s no 1.18 new category. I’m going to explain this patterns in a future video if you want to know how they look like.
