I'll try to make this short: There's an old game that runs a bit faster than it should, which makes the real time inaccurate (luckily, the game has its own timer, which appears at the end of each stage). There are tools to change the FPS, but 30 is sill too fast and 29 is too slow.
This is a game without any demand reall which I mod (Little Fighter 2), I just want to get advice on what to do. Right now, the important time is IGT, which is sum of all stages together.
I prefer controller for all Spidey games, except for SM200 - wich works better with keyboard and SM2PC - where mouse is requiered for it to work.
Personally, keyboard+mouse feels very uncomfortable. You have one hand on the mouse for the occasional swings and camera movement and left hand for everything else, which makes it so busy with doing too much. For that, you can also map Swing and Web keys on keyboard and play keyboard-only for most of the time.
Bare in mind that using an Xbox360 controller (may be the same for One), when LT and RT are pressed together, they cancel each other. That's because the triggers have "Z axis" to enable sensitivity for how much you press them down and when pressed together, the value is 0, so the game thinks nothing is pressed. Using RB and LB instead is just as good id not better.
- Why in the music folder there are 2 files of the track for Andy's House (one called "house", the other called "fullhouse")? Does it have something to do with the Demo?
2a. The voice clips and SFX on the PS version are different from the other ports of the game, the later are reused in "Buzz Lightyear Of The Star Command". Why is that? Were they all recorded by Tim Allen, or did Patrick Warburton record the later clips? 2b. Just something to note, the PS version also has more lines when Buzz faces a boss.
- Is it just me, or do the music files all have that "hiss"?
Thanks. Brandon uploaded a video explaining the DGVoodoo method long ago, which solved my problem (I tried using that method before, but couldn't find the correct settings). There are still some minor graphic hiccups, but nothing more.
I'm surprised to find that the game runs better at 30FPS, furthermore, that might solve my Zurg issue. However, that also happened on my old Win98 PC. I can't recall the framerate on that system, but I think it was 60fps as well (if it was even possible back in the day). I will try to optmize the settings when I'm near my PC.
Just want to watch an interesting run. I like to watch runs that abuse AI but don't like runs that glitch the whole game with clipping and that kind of stuff.
for NG+, when it'll be a category.
I myself have done everything except for races and skydive. Since I got nothing (IIRC) from golding all Combat Tours and Bomb Tours, I assume completing the above also gives nothing. If it's true, then I can provide my own save file.
There's no complete save file on the internet at all. All I can find is a save file with all missions complete with both characters.
EDIT: Just rialized the videos were private so you couldn't watch them! I made them unlisted, so you should be able to do so now!
Sorry for the long post. Many things here arn't woth reading. Just watch the videos and read some of the last paragraph, they explain it much better than words anyway.
It is possible to make the chopper shoot at you more than 1 missle per loop. The chopper is programed to reposition and shoot another missle if it was not hit by the fired-back-missle in a certain time - if it was not hit by a missle, it assumes the missle exploded. If you manage to dodge the missle long enough, the chopper would do the above, allowing you to hit it with more missles in a single loop. After the firt missle hits, the chopper will proceed the loop of shooting with missle rain and fast bullets. The best way I found is to spam the Reflex bottun and if needed, run around the area. See the video below: Yes, you can stand on a building nearby or even on the ground. Just make sure you come back to that building before he starts to shoot the bullets or he might flee from there and fail the mission.
This is a perfect example of the trick, because it also shows you how inconsistent it is. Dodging the missle long enough is pretty tricky, even with the abuse of the Reflex, and not every missle even is garanteed to actually deal damage. Still, in theory, you can redirect 6 missles in a single loop, which can save alot of time. Another huge problem is that abusing the Reflex button too can make the chopper to flee from the battlefield, causing you to fail the mission lose even more time. This is pretty rare, yet it's still a threat.
Now look at the "proper" way to do the mission: I fight the chopper as I'm expected to, and you can see that I'm faster around a minute and a half.
After comparing times, being able to hits twice in a single loop can save you up to 20 seconds (took me 40 seconds to land 2 hits in a single loop - as opposed to 54 seconds and 2 loops). That's a minute saved in the best case and it's really not worth it. Try this trick only if you attempt to redirect 6 missles at once. If not, don't bother, because it will just slow you down.
¤ The graphics are glitchy because I play on window mode (With DXWnd). There should be a way to fix that. ¤ I'm playing on the PC version with a (fake) PS3 controller, that's why the control display is numbered instead of... I don't know. It has the same layout as in console versions.
Little Fighter 2 Fancy Pants Adventure series
I know the Speedrun method to locking him in the corner, but I always struggle to defeat him the proper way. In other videos I see that it's easy for them to defeat him, but when I try, I can't reach him or he always manages to escape from me. Eventually I do defeat him, but I don't know why sometimes the game allows me to get the hit and sometimes not. I know that I can sort of slow him down with the elevator's engine, but it's still very luck-based.
So what do others see and I don't?
Thanks Clown!
Here's a recap: I'm still struggling with the last Bugle mission, Completed all the Pizza mission (more on that later), Havn't yet started with the fighting arena. And so far completed more than half of the Challenges, ranging from Easy to Hard. They are pretty much forgiving with the Mega Times. I assume that they assumed players will attend them before reaching max swing speed, so I had more time to mess up and recover from that. (As you can guess, I don't quite find them hard. Well, I still have to deal with the Insane races, but these are the ones that probably do requier max speed)
As for the Pizza, Easy Swing helped alot. I charge my jump BEFORE the swing, and that caused me to perform air tricks and lose all the pizzas. The fact that you need 1 less bottun to release the swing helped too. Which makes me think, can you actually benefit from using normal swing, or is it just more "proffesional"?
This isn't exactly a speedrun thing, but I can't find any good guides on the web (pun intended) on this subject. As speedrunners, I believe you might be the most reliable source for information.
The side missions are really hard, all of them. And I want tips on how to beat them. I beat all MJ's missions. I'm missing the last Photo mission (I think it's the last, the mission on the island). I havn't started nor got too far on Pizza, Fighting Arena and Race Challenges. And I can't beat them, even with Spider Reflexes (and max swing speed of course).
Most of these requier precice swing, which I sort of have. I follow the speedruns and try to do short and boosted swings to keep my momentum. However, when I started a new game, I found that at lower speeds, I get downward boosts.
So, to summarise:
- What is the best way to practice web-swing at any speed for hopefully an actual speedrun?
- Can someone upload his playthrough of the side missions? Anyone who does that would be my hero.
Also, I use Normal Swing. I think Pizza missions would be easier with Easy Swing though. And forgive me for this messy thread, it's pretty late at night as I write this half asleep.
GTA series is perfect for Seg runs. You need to chuckle (is that a word?) as many missions as possible before saving, becuase saving does requier you to go to a specific place. So it's a trade-of between consistency and saving the time driving to your save place.
Can anyone give a example of another game that works that way?
I havn't stumbled upon a segmented run on this site, even if a run takes half a day (how do you stay sane during and afterwards?!). The only segmented run I found (which I can't find anymore) was timed by days, which is really long time. There are reasons for a against this type of runs, but I can't list them without going too deep on this subject.
So I want to ask, are segmented runs allowed? In which games should they and should they not, and why?
Tapping the Targeting Mode bottun relocates the camera behind Spidey's back. I've watched a few runs and players don't seem to know that. (They seem to struggle with the camera in a few spots, so I can only assume that this is why)
Hope it helps for future runs. Actually, I hope you guys knew that already. Peace.
Thank you both! brandonhill helped me bia Skype. Now I can run the game, but fraps doesn't help reducing the lags.
"unable to enumerate a suitable device", I'm sure anyone who tried to run the PC version knows this error
Solutions I found on the internet:
- Set the game to run as an older system (Windows 98 is said more often than the others). Tried that, doesn't wok.
- Reboot you PC to 2 GB of RAM (or less?). I've seen that it works (didn't try that), but I really don't wanna do that.
- DGVooDoo. A program that emulates old graphics cards. I tried everything there and it doesn't solve the problem. It might be my fault, maybe I missed something.
If it helps, these are my specs:
- Intel i5 4590 3.3 GHz
- Nvidia GTX 960 2GB
- 8 GB RAM (see: reboot)
- Windows 8.1
I want to try to solve that before I use an emulator. It has the cutscenes and better music from of PS1, and the better sound effect of the N64. ¤ The Dreamcast version also has both, so I'll try that before the two above.
Does anyone know about a somewhat official patch for modern PCs? I hope it's not spam and that you can help me.
Hello you all, This is my introduction. I basicly play some Mega Man and Sonic games somewhat competitively (Try to play as fast as possible, but not tring to break any records. Also, some of these games are ranked and requier to sacrifire time for collectiong point or not taking damage). My main game is called Little Fighter 2, and I'm really surprised no one is speed-runnung this game like I do. The game was mostly known through the early 00's. If you've played the game during that peroid, you probably played in version 1.9 (or 1.9c patch with fixed colors). You should know that the latest version was released in 2008 - 2.0. I'd like to know where can I discuss this game further. Another thing I'd like to know, is how should I record the game with splits. Speaking of splits, I tested the split program once, but I couldn't split without focusing to that window, meaning that I lose focus on the game's window, leading to some time-loss.
Anyways, this forum must have guides to help me, I'll go check them out.
