It's also linked with the Discord button at the top of the page.
It would be helpful, if moderators could see that only the video link was edited and don't need to re-verify, re-time etc.
I think it should be ok without sound, if there are no other issues.
After making a savestate after starting the game, you have to select the same squares in the same order and the 2nd level should be the same.
It's something that is proposed often and I would be in favor of it too, if the number of distinct games on the Microsoft Solitaire Collection wasn't so limited. Even before the method for deck manipulation was found, runners recognized repeating boards, so it's really not possible to ban it, nor would Grandmaster add a lot of difficulty since you could still memorize the best board and wait until you get it without manipulation.
For some games a split would make sense, but imagine one, where you have like 30 seconds of menuing in a 30 minute game. You wouldn't want two categories for how the menus are done in such a run.
How do you handle touchscreen inputs for 2D PC games? On one hand it seems like a pretty inaccessible advantage over mouse controls, it trivializes some runs in which the only skill is aiming and old games were never intended to be played with a touchscreen. On the other hand touchscreens are becoming more common and a ban will look silly.
EDIT: "2D games" was not the best descriptor. The same thing applies to 2D sections in 3D games such as menus or minigames.
You have to close and reopen the program.
NES framerate is slightly higher than 60 fps, so it's never going to be 100% perfect with normal recording methods. Maybe a better solution is to just add s very small amount of time for low fps submissions. Requesting a raw file and waiting everytime is annoying. What other visual start/end frames do you suggest?
I like it.
Regarding no more categories: I think that should not apply to categories that were considered impossible/improbable at the time that decision that made. Blindfolded Warpless, Walkathon Warpless and this should all be accepted once done RTA.
I think it would be optimal to bind a digital metronome sound (or other sound file) to the same key as the strafe key, which you use to start the catapult glitch, and use that as a sound cue for it. That's already kind of what's being done with listening to the sound of the hero's steps, though that depends on the surface and background noise too (and there is no step sound OOB). Then the same thing again could be done but bound to the ESC key to time the duration of pausing.
To me that just seemed too much external assistance, but I recognize that that is very subjective.
The warp destination depends on the last warp loaded into memory. In the AISSON run you have the underground warp in 8-2 still (partly) in memory. If you die and continue, it won't work the same as when you first entered 8-4 coming from 8-2.
The vine is to fill the enemy list and prevent the piranha plant on the pipe from being loaded.
