Why can you not select AUS as a region for games? This should be added in IMO as Australia is a major region.
Just posting this here so it doesn't get lost to the annals of history
Air Swimming
Emulators are currently:
BANNED
The only currently known emulator for the Vita is "Vita3K". Testing is still needed to verify the validity of this.
Console Differences:
PSP: Can both Infect and activate Retribution+ by connecting itself to a copy of Resistance 2 on the PlayStation 3. As such, PSP has the most available categories to run.
PSVita: Has access to TheOfficialFloW's Remastered controls. This activates Retribution+. The Vita may be able to Infect the game via the LiveArea and connecting to a PlayStation 3, but this is untested. Running the game through Adrenaline is allowed and not considered emulation, but should me mentioned in the run comment.
PSTV: Same thing as the Vita, however cannot become Infected by any known means.
PSClassic: Restricted to Retribution Plus. Thanks to a free DLC update to version 1.02, Infected Plus can be accessed.
Emulators: Emulator is allowed provided both version and clock speed are shown. PPSSPP versions before 1.0 are banned. PSVita Emulators are banned. There is no known way to Infect or activate Retribution+ on the emulator.
Variables & Sub-Categories:
Playthrough: Retribution creates user profiles that save all acquired intel, weapons and skill points. 'Fresh' profiles are ones that have not begun campaign yet in any way, and have collected no weapons, intel, or skill points. 'NG+' profiles have done at least one of those things. Creation of 'Fresh' profiles is not required to be shown.
Difficulty: Retribution has multiple difficulties; select the one you do the run on.
Mode: Retribution can be modified in a number of ways. The PSP has access to the most options and Emulator has the least. See "Infected & Retribution+" below for more details. Select the mode that applies to your run.
Magnum: Applies to any run that uses the magnum during it, this does not include runs done on profiles that simply posses the magnum. All infected runs and NG+ playthroughs with all intelligence have access to this weapon.
Aim-Assist: IL only variable, simply confirms if using Aim-Assist.
Infected: IL only variable, simply confirms if playing while Infected.
Infected: This mode adds Underwater Breathing, Poison Gas Breathing, slightly altered Story, the Magnum at the start of a Fresh campaign, and Regenerating HP. It is currently only known to work on physical PSPs and must be activated using a copy of Resistance 2 on the PlayStation 3 and a USB cable. As of patch 1.02, the Classic release can be played through on Infected.
Retribution+: This mode disables Aim-Assist, Makes the game somewhat harder, and remaps some of the controls to allow for better use and feel on a Controller for all consoles that support the users controller of choice. This mode must be activated using a copy of Resistance 2 on the PlayStation 3 and a USB cable for the PSP, however, for PSVita/PSTV systems, enabling TheOfficialFloW's Remastered controls will activate this mode, and is allowed. PSClassic uses this mode by default.
Retribution+ Control Changes:
- PSP: Right D-Pad Swaps Weapons / DualShock: Left D-Pad Also Swaps Weapons
- PSP: Up D-Pad Aims Down Sights / DualShock: Down D-Pad Aims Down Sights
- PSP: Down D-Pad is Action button / DualShock: X button is Action button.
- PSP: Left D-Pad Reloads / DualShock: Square Button Reloads
- PSP: Face Buttons^ moves Camera / DualShock: Right Analog moves Camera. On a PSVita/PSTV this can be remapped using adrenaline to the R. Analog.
I'm dumb for not seeing this sooner. Credits to a source I found online.
So an additional followup after returning to this game.

The glitch is not triggered by going Out of Bounds as I triggered it on a NMS run at the Malikov/Daedalus point having only done a single skip
-
The glitch got progressively worse, starting w/ only a single line of dialogue from Malikov and culminating in all in game speech being muted, this seemed completely irrelevant of any and all skips I did and deaths I had
-
The glitch occurs on both 1.00 and 1.60
As such I believe this skip is actually triggered by simply playing all of Resistance 2 up to Bryce Canyon in a single sitting after first booting the game up.
I am also no longer experiencing the hardlock after several patches and de patches
Mt. Pleasant Forest to Dropship:
Mt. Pleasant OoB to Jonathan: This is an updated vid after a new discovery
New York Gate Defense Fight:
Central Park: So the way to do this is to head up the right side of the map, allowing you to bypass almost all of the hybrids and steelheads in your way. Make sure you kill a few as you'll be coming back through.
From here, run into the building on the far end and wait a few second to trigger the Goliaths, killing the hybrids that come to you, watching for 1 or 2 with health on the side.
When you hear the whistles starting it means you triggered a checkpoint, immediately run back, picking up any health and take the exact same route back though, but this time complete the Central Park fight as normal (or simply survive).
This event is timed and ends automatically after about 3:40 (three minutes and fourty seconds) has passed. There are 3 health drops lying around the first half that are easy to reach should you need them. IGNORE THE STALKERS.
Lastly, the "edge" of the second map is a complete lie, the deadeye hybrids one shot you, and there is a glitch to skip around the trigger for them, but that also skips the Goliaths. If you do make it there, the world ends.

Is demo mode interactive? I got a weird bug.
I was unable to select either continue or quit at this point.
P.S. Yes, I was ignorant to this the whole time.
On certain bosses, you beat them, the screen fades to black, but for a brief period of time the cut scene state ends and a game play state is temporarily initiated again. If you are mashing start during this, you will actually pause the game and confuse it, essentially soft locking you. This can happen on Monkey and Leopard.
Additionally, T'ai can make double jumps. Simply get hit in the air (monkeys are the easiest way to do this) and it will stun T'ai allowing you to jump a second time.
You may also be able to land on enemies heads for a jump.
You can also soft lock boar by phasing him as he jumps up / away
Here is a list of all level transitions on the map and how long in seconds it takes to traverse them, along w/ the options menuing.
It is never faster to use the options menus to skip a map transition.
options - 11 seconds BF-BH - 2.5 BH-TR - 2.5 TR-LJ - 2 LJ-LF - 2.5 LF-LL - 3 LL-TB - 2 TB-MK - 8 MK-ML - 3 ML-CoS - 2 CoS-CR - 8.5 CR-MT - 7.5 MT-MS - 3.5 MS-CH - 2.5 CH-PJ - 4 PJ-CR - 4.5 CR-GW - 2 GW-TM - 6 TM-MP - 4 MP-SG - 7.5 SG-FP - 3.5
Why not skip Paramonia in Any%? You have invulnerability, and the game seems fairly similar in terms of level design.
Also what do you do in Paramonia that tricks the game into thinking you completed Scrabania?
And why the save quit before the huge ascend in the Paramite run?
Thanks.
Dropping A thread to say Hello! I plan on joining you all in running this game in a few days. Played it casually and found a few things Id like to share as well.
In the mean time, is there anything I should know about running this game? I will be playing it on PS2.
Edit: Well it looks like everything I found, you guys have a better way, though I am curious about 2 things,
1 you seem to gain height when activating Crane and mashing. Is this true or an illusion?
2 obviously you can skip boss cycles fairly easily, especially from monkey onwards, if this pure execution or is there a good chunk of luck to them? Monkey seems 3 cycle able, rat 2 cycle able, baboon 1 or 2 and Dragon maybe even 1.
Also, I did see your dragon @sistraer but I feel you could combine it w/ a Chi Burst into Tiger Punch Mashing for faster kills, maybe even 1 cycles? Then again maybe you just had bad RNG. This method I used worked best when you chi burst during his attack and punished him, landing over 15 hits.
Why does this game not have a PS version listed? It was released November 21, 1997
More importantly, should I know anything if I decide to do a run on PS?
Bantix may be more then I thought. He seems very finicky about mistakes. If you mess up even once on the 1,1,2,3,3 method it changes drastically so I need to do more work. But keeping the ball in the left or right does definately reduce rockets and make him get hit faster...
BonzaiJoe is interested in setting up a discord server to get this game growing. Come and join it, EBTKS and anyone else who wants to check this out.
If this invite expires let us know. It should be forever.
not sure you can cheese dragon, wolf, or ducks, but definitely robot and batnix I would only say we are manipulating. Also I prefer the right side, not the left. But its sementics and is the same.
I figured out hot to fight the robot as well. Its simply timed rhythmic shot presses while he is in the middle and you can win. He can get lose but just set it up again.
yeah the flock frenzy sheep dog is literally free and 100% consistent opener provided no sheep rng shenanigans, just line the ball up w/ the left dot and hold L1+L2
Also Knight time is a lot easier w/ max-angled shots (I had no idea you could do those away from the edge lol)
So the spot for RR is slightly left, so about a quarter of the paddle is in the right side starting square and 75% is in the left side square, then hold L1 and L2. GG. Also you dont need yellow, nor would i suggest using him because he is smaller then red. If you wanna practice this line-up use american guy and set it so the stars are on the right and stripes on the left.
Edit: guide updated again
that is an interesting approach to RR. Ill test it out and write it in if it ends up being consistent. When you say left most, are you launching the ball from the left corner sending it right, or launching it from the right sending it to the left most wall corner? I assume the latter.
Same goes for Crate Escape, though this one is much more obvious.
I agree, now that you mention it i bring it up a lot. Ill move the difficulty dropping to one concise section and cut out most references to it. Though I do think it is worth pointing out on a general level, as it is an option while learning the game. I don't think i made it clear that difficulty should never be lower then expert / professional after you finish Egypt.
So the way i found Batnix was, I decided to practice the slight tilt apraoch I mentioned (using R1 to influence the ball while still getting multiple hits on the same block) and used 1 rocket and saw it hit. I just built from there, trying to find the minimum amount of rockets needed. Then saw what happened if you tried extra rockets early. The most interesting thing is that every boss react to the player in some way, so when you passively play in the corner, Batnix has a hard time lining up any rockets for some reason as his reaction to you. Him dodging rockets is scripted though, if you see him wiggling its the AI about to dodge at the last second. He can get clipped by an explosion if you hit him with the wrong amount of rockets for a cycle ( i had this happen for both less and more) which is where the difficulties arise.
Edit: The edits are live now, gunna remove the {} after testing.
What do you guys think of this guide? Please post comments and revisions here for me.
