"but should you be submitting it?" IMO, no. But I'm a mod, I don't control whether someone decides to submit such a huge time or not.
As a reminder, I used RE2 as an example. I beat it in 4h37 in my first playthrough and even that I wouldn't submit. I used it because I know how long it takes to beat it and because you probably know too.
I spoke to the ENTIRE community of Blue Stinger (so... 3 people) and they have all agreed to accept any time, even ludicrously long times. I'll know for the next time, democracy ruins everything ^-^
I've spoken to the few guys involved in my leaderboard and they all have the same opinion : I should allow it. Thanks guys ! So far, 100% of people gave me the same answer, you've just made my decision easier to make.

Should I refuse, let's say, a 12 hours run for Resident Evil 2 remake ? (people take between 54 to 1h30 to beat it) (also, I'm using RE2 as an example)
Would you refuse such run ?

@Soulless_Persona Why though ? Even if it allows a single person more to run this game, someone with a disability. This person will have to take more time than anybody else because he'll have to make a detour to save, he will be at the bottom of the leaderboard but at least this person will be able to participate for once. And again, it wouldn't disadvantage anyone.
So, right now, if I understand correctly it's : "we won't because we don't"
Why ? Because I wrote 5 messages on the forum in 2 years and a half ? They are making the rules as we speak, what's your suggestion exactly ? That I come back in a year from now and try to change things then ? Isn't it the optimal time to discuss those things ?
My messages aren't the most effective ? Yes, I know ! Acting like a mafia is but I'm basically trying to speak for people who aren't there to give their point of view because these people are use to be passively excluded by the mods and the rules they make, thinking only about themselves.
I'm advocating to not actively removing a rule that wouldn't even disadvantage anybody (people who will save will actually lose time btw...) and prevent some people from running. Is it too much to ask ? Not checking a single box ? Is it too much ?
And I have no horse in this race by the way, I don't plan on running this game anyway.

The issue here (in particular) would be to forbid segmented runs because YOU (most RE2 speedrunners) don't use segmented runs. So, I have suggested maybe thinking outside of your bubble and allow segmented runs to allow more people to to run the game (people with kids, handicap, disease etc).
As it is now, you'll ban segmented runs just because and probably prevent sub 120fps people to participate... Then something will happen with the Xbox one and PS4 and those players won't be able to participate either because their framerate is shit or something like that and, in the end, like many other games, RE2 will be exclusive and we'll end up with the same exact people on the leaderboard... Sounds pretty elitist to me.
I have some games that I have, I could run them but don't because of the rules. It's stupid but like you said, I can still play alone in my corner... but the more you exclude people, the more people there will be outside than inside the community...

Be careful what you wish for, there are already several great speedrunners (like top 3 tier speedrunners) who don't want to deal with this website... Therefore, how do you know you're really 1st or 2nd ? Maybe someone from the outside beat you...

-Single segment only (goodbye handicapped people !) -120fps only (goodbye poor people !) -Capture card required (understandable, but still a barrier of entry for some people) -Version "x" not allowed (goodbye people playing on the "console x" !) etc
the speedrunning "community" isn't inclusive (not the SJW BS "inclusive", that I don't care it's not relevant). It's as if they didn't want new challengers to be able to join unless this person is from the same "circle" already...
Let me advocate for segmented run allowed : Not everyone can sit for an hour (or more) straight. Handicap ? Disease ? Who knows, there is a IGT so why prevent people from running if it doesn't change anything in the end ?
How many games don't use IGT ? A ton ! Place yourself in the shoes of someone who wants to speedrun but often can't because of the time constraint... RE2 remake would be a really good opportunity for handicapped people to be able to participate, so why blocking this possibility just because YOU don't see the advantage ? If it doesn't disadvantage other people, there is no good reason to not allow segmented run.
Please, bear in mind that not everybody is like you, there are already plenty of barriers of entry already, no need to add more just because...

Do you have an idea of the amount of games you'd need to spend a crazy amount of money just to be able to submit a run ?! I think MGS on PS1 doesn't even have a PS1 category ! Some games requires special versions which require a modded or imported console. Add to that the requirement of having a capture card, a software to time your run (that I wouldn't even know how to operate) and now a powerful PC...
At the end, what's left ? People with crazy amount of money, the rest can just watch from the outside. That's how we should operate things among gamers ? There are already enough barriers of entry, no need to artificially add some.
What's next ? You need to give $500 to the mods so you can submit a run ?!

So basically, what you're saying is : we won't pander to people we have forbidden to play. What makes you think the "less than 120fps" is the minority ? Because you can do 120fps therefore you're the majority ?
I'm with you on this one, poor people shouldn't be allowed to speedrun RE2, hell they shouldn't even be able to play video games at all ! Also, that's what the (((gaming community))) needs : a barrier of entry based on the money you've spent to build your PC. I know that's pretty much consensual at this point but a barrier of entry based on skills was a bad idea from the get go, I don't know whose idea it was but this guy must have been high on something special like equal opportunity or something nefarious like that.

Yes I use the OSSC, my capture card accepts the DC signal when in passthrough only, but I have one goal : Beat my PB and having the best video quality possible. Anything below that, I see it as a waste of time. I don't like how youtube compresses 480p content, it looks nothing like what I get on my TV, let alone what I see in 960p.
I want my video to last, to be enjoyable to watch because let's be honest, with all those un-skippable cut-scenes, this game is pretty boring to watch... 480p compressed is really unappealing.
I honestly don't know what Discord is, I've heard of it but I've never used it myself. Isn't that a platform to stream games ? Because my capture card doesn't accepts what's coming out of my OSSC so I sold it. Also, I'm French and even though I live in UK, my spoken English is unbelievably bad... I'll try to get a new one that accepts weird resolutions later this year. If there is more to it, why not... What would I have to do on this discord ?
