Since i didn't see a thread for this, and I feel like there should be an srcom thread for this, I thought I'd make one. On the subject of N Sane Trilogy Leaderboards theres some unanswered questions as to what the categories are going to be and who is going to moderate the leaderboards and so forth. Can we discuss here as this is a good medium to discuss this sort of thing some of the things that need to be discussed, and can a mod or person making the leaderboards come up with a good proposal as for what the leaderboards would be like after hearing discussion?

hey can we change it so the 105% leaderboard appears first just like the 100% leaderboard appears first in crash 2? thanks

So I read the new update, and as many already know I heavily disagree with it. I'm gonna address a few points.

First off, I will quote the sticky: "PS1 emulators is where most (if not all) the controversy comes from. As FDS is allowed for PS1 games ran on a PS2, it has been noted that "Emu is always going to be slower than console". However, the whole aim of the emulator is to be accurate to the console that the games were originally meant to be run on, which is the PS1."

I am in the camp that thinks all emus should be allowed since a PS2 with FDS will always be faster than any emulator anyways, and I find faults in the idea that emulators should be compared to a playstation 1. First problem is that nobody runs on playstation 1, and our goals for making comparisons between the emulator and console are to measure the strength of players and strength of times on the emus or consoles people choose to use, and the console people choose to use is PS2 with FDS, not the PS1, so it doesnt make any sense to me to compare the speedruns on a PS1 emulator to a PS1 console instead of a PS2.

That's the first issue, but suppose the only concern some people have is that "the whole aim of the emulator is to be accurate to the console that the games were originally meant to be run on" which i'm aware is how some people think, but i feel this idea is flawed

Because by this logic, PS2 with FDS turned on should be banned, because load times are not accurate to the console the ps1 games are originally meant to be run on.

The emulator in particular I would like to have unbanned is PSXFin, which is only innacurate in that it has load times faster than ps2, but it is slower in loads than a ps2 with fds, and therefore there is no grounds for banning it in my opinion.

I'm quite opinionated on this, I feel as though there's literally nothing accomplished by banning emus, particularly psx fin, other than widening the gap between legal emus and legal consoles and removing the easiest ps1 emulator on the internet for beginners to download. please give me any additional thoughts or comments on this, and also, please do not respond with "Well you can still run on emu, we just won't accept your runs on the leaderboard," because that's like saying you can still break the law, you'll just get arrested for it. It also doesn't even address the issue at hand.

finally:

"If your run uses an emulator not listed here then it will not be accepted. No WR is currently set on a banned emulator, and therefore is not a cause for concern. Again, please open a new thread if you would like to discuss this."

for shits and giggles i'd like to point out that I have the crash 3 105% ng+ world record on PSXFin, a banned emulator.

So I have always struggled with not having the ability to pause runs, such that it severely limits the time I have to do runs due to the expectation of interruptions at certain hours, as well as having anxiety. All I request is that we make a rule change to allow at least one free untimed pause, but with as many restrictions as others may feel necessary such as limiting number of pauses, or requiring the entire run with a pause be streamed not just recorded.

I only want an option available in case me or other runners need it and to put myself and other runners at ease with peace of mind knowing that they can finish valid runs even if they are interrupted in the middle of it.

I'm only concerned with adding this to the 105% category since it's the main category I run and it's over 2 hours long but the door is open to implementing it in any other categories for crash games people want.
