Depends on the leaderboard rules, you probably don't but each board will/should have its own rules on how timing works.
If it's unclear I'd just do a run how you feel comfortable or ask a game moderator/in the community about it. Unless the game needs automatic load removal with the timer it's very unlikely you'd need one though, just not impossible.
In some cases submitting a game request for a game that hasn't been fully/at all released will still be permitted a leaderboard, especially when other games in the same series or development cycle are already on the site. You can submit a game request as normal and attach the proper context as to when it'll be released and why you can't have a run of it yet, or in the case that the game already has a series page on the site, you can have the series moderators add a board which can stay dormant until the game releases.

Simultaneously, every mathematician opens their mouth and outpours a cloud of multicoloured mosquitoes. Each mathematician is bellowing insects of a different shade.
The mosquitoes form into a singular, polychromatic swarm. "FOOLS" it booms in unison, "I WILL INFECT EVERY BEING ON THIS PATHETIC PLANET WITH MALARIA"
The bartender stands fearless against the technicolour hoard. "But wait" he interrupts, thinking fast, "if you do that, politicians will use the catastrophe as an excuse to implement free healthcare. Think of how much that will hurt the taxpayers!"
The mosquitoes fall silent for a brief moment. "My God, you're right. We didn't think about the economy! Very well, we will not attack this dimension. FOR THE TAXPAYERS!" and with that, they vanish.
A nearby barfly stumbles over to the bartender. "How did you know that that would work?"
"It's simple really" the bartender says. "I saw that the vectors formed a gradient, and therefore must be conservative."
It sounds odd but actually practicing choke points and specific strats in runs rather than doing a lot of runs is absolutely crucial. Even in games where I feel like I know exactly what I'm doing and what to do, practicing exploits and setups a lot makes it almost subconscious in runs.
Thank you so much for continuing to support that tool, it'll be brilliant for all-round fair running, in Arma above many other games I've played using a remover. Depends on the leaderboard rules, but if there's not an In-game time then it's very unusual that you need one for runs to be verified. But they're great anyway as I'm sure you've seen - LiveSplit is very popular and has OBS plugins that make it very customisable, it's a program you can download from the LiveSplit github website: https://livesplit.org/
Setting it up is also very easy, right click it and use the layout + split settings and program settings to adjust it. Because it's so popular there are also loads of tutorials available on YouTube for setting it up.
