Unfortunately, PMW2's increasing popularity also causes an increase in peoples desire to cheat or submit false runs. The current system (allowing times above 50:00 without video) is incredibly lenient, and I think that while this system was fine back when it was just a google doc that C13 and I ran 4 years ago, in the current speedrunning world with easy to use capture cards, webcams, streaming/recording services, etc. there really isn't any reason that this should still be in place.

Since this is a speedrunning community and not a dictatorship (depending on who you ask) I think this should be open for public debate and put to a vote to see what the community in general feels is best for this leaderboard.

Pros: Increased legitimacy for the leaderboard. (If a time is on here, it means more than just typing something into sr.c without any verification) MUCH lower chance of cheated runs appearing. Better for people checking out the game to have videos of many skill levels instead of only elite times. (for learning easier strats and stuff, its what I did for OoT)

Cons: Current times without a video would have to be removed.

I plan on leaving this open for a week and then tallying up the votes to see what the community in general feels is best.

If you support making all times require a video, post "rules should be changed" If you support keeping the current system, post "keep current system"

If you change your mind for whatever reason, just edit your post. I won't tally them until a week from now, so there shouldn't be any issues with that.

You'll need to time how long each load takes compared to console (accurately) and then add that amount to your final time. It's probably saving you around 3 minutes judging by what I saw of that IL.

If you ACCURATELY time every load and add that amount to your final time it is legal.

Unfortunately for ILs they're shorter runs so individual milliseconds matter, and accepting emu when they potentially have minor issues would be a problem, so for now, only console runs are okay for IL runs.

Do you run PMW2 on GBA? If you do, you're pretty much the founding member, so its your call. If you do a run of it then I can add it as a category to these leaderboards if you'd like, but I'd prefer if there was already a run completed so it doesnt just sit empty.

"Official Time" doesnt really matter unless two times are within a second of each other. As long as you're within around half a second of accuracy when hitting the final split, its no big deal. (This is assuming you're talking about full game runs)

If you're talking about ILs, I usually retime them after I finish streaming while I'm highlighting them. As you can see in the rules for ILs, timing goes from selecting the level (hitting A) to when the screen goes completely black.

1. Not sure what timer you're talking about, but livesplit is the best timer available. Watch this video to see how to set up livesplit

2. Rob answered. Heres a pic if you dont know where he was talking about, . Follow the IL and you'll see that place.

3. Emu is fine as long as your computer can run it, just be aware its not really "official" so if you want a time submitted under 50 minutes it'll have to be on console. You probably wont be at that step for a while though, so dont rush out and buy one. :)

I just feel like this would be useful, as I keep up with a lot of speedgames, and checking each page individually to see if there is change is a bit of a hassle. I'm not saying this is ultra important, I'm just saying it would be a nice feature to maybe have a "followed games" list on the front page instead, or at least be able to blacklist the million super meat boy times I'm not interested in.

Yeah, I wasn't sure exactly how different the two were (been >1year), I just wanted it brought to your attention in case you didn't know.
