'Ello.

So, just thought I'd give a quick tip to anyone who might be interested in running this.

At the start, when you pull the launch all the way down and release it, the ball will follow the same path. It's not a particularly great path; takes time and you only cross the 500 point gate once.

However, I noticed during the grind that if you release the launch slightly before it's maximum position (unsure of the timing of this, but it appears to be near the moment the launch extends from his penultimate position to it's maximized position) then there is a consistent path that results in the player getting 10810 points in 19 seconds, before the player even gets a chance to hit the ball.

Might have to practice a few times, but you'll see what I'm talking about relatively easily. There are only so many opening paths onto the board.

Also, not sure if such a thing exists in Game B as well yet. Not particularly useful or relevant to Saving Pauline either.

Tfw you make the password the name of the level:

A MAZE SING B MAZE ZING BASEBALL DEMO DRAGEES FLIP OUT FUNNEL HYDRA LADDER MANDALA MY BREAK OBSESSION PROTON SPINITUP TEST PATTERN TRICK SHOT

So, I've went ahead for now, and eliminated the subcategories for this specific issue.

The reason mostly being that's there is no great way on the back end of the leader boards without it mostly showing up on all sorts of runs it wouldn't really be relevant for.

I do have a couple possible ideas that would make it better (but not perfect), but I should be able to do without needing to per-determine what the runs are.

If demand for there to be a category free of using the ESC button, I will look into it again.

Any way we can unban emulators or create a subcat? I just did a couple runs, but can't submit them. =[

Just a fun aside for ya.

I got a N64 controller, 3rd party, a couple months ago. I was brutally disappointed to find out that the controller only has 10 inputs plus joy stick. The N64 controller has 14 inputs plus joystick. Essentially, the d-pad and joystick shared inputs, pretty much making it useless for a number of games.

Two weeks ago, my SNES controller finally broke; a button keeps getting jammed, so can't really use it anymore. So, I went up to the pawn shop, looking for an Xbox controller. Well, apparently and Xbox controller needs a USB adapter to work, so I went with this unmarked, presumably microsoft generic xbox controller.

Got home... and then start playing, to find out it only has 14 inputs. So, I could use for N64. But, here's the thing. The inputs of the d-pad shared inputs with the left joystick, and the x/y/a/b shared inputs with the right joystick (with the R3/L3 buttons having devoted inputs). As you imagine, I was confused and livid. But, at least I could get to work for SNES and runs.

Skip to earlier... I'm playing a game and randomly push the Xbox button in the middle, which turned the P1 light on. All the sudden, the game I was playing stopped working.

Turns out... for whatever reason, the Xbox button seems to actually turn on all the inputs on the controller (my computer recognizes it as a completely different controller all the sudden).

So, long story short, I had bad luck with controllers then caught a lucky break. Also, check to see how many inputs a controller has before you order online.

hello. I noticed people are able to exit duels like they are save and exiting without reseting the emulator. At least that's what it looks like for the purposes of RNG manipulation. How does one do this?

So, I get a good location; I restart a few times to get AI to pick crappy locations. Then I proceed to do great for so long, until near towards the end, mostly after 1965, once the other companies (usually jsut one) tends to catch up and then killing my market share on certain routes.

In general, I tend to buy the shittiest planes that go the shortest distances, but that doesn't really seem to help. So, I keep ending up in second, and not getting the winning screen. Is it the planes I'm getting that causes to eventually lose so much in profit and market share?

Thanks in advance.

On a GB emu, but GB isn't a platform choice given. =[

Anyone have any experience with these by chance?

I'm looking at getting this one because I need not only HDMI recording, but also VGA recording.

I pretty bad at messing with my tower, so I'm sure it'll take forever to figure out how to put in, but I know I got the room and capability, I'm just not sure if I should be looking at something a little more high end. (Hoping not, as I don't want to spend 500 bucks on it, but will if necessary).

I was in my hometown for the holidays and went by a barcade, and I noticed they had an original Tengen Tetris Arcade game. Honestly, if I wasn't with someone, I would have stopped and done a run right then and there.

But yeah, it was a pretty machine.

You guys planning on getting some hardcore speedrunning done on the upcoming break? Or will you just be too busy basically?

Unfortunately, I will likely lose my 40 runs/month pace as I will be travelling for 2 weeks. =[

I might look into some Mobile gaming stuff or something though if I get really bored for enough time; or maybe just download OBS on a family computer and record a few web games or something. Besides that; preparing for longest speedrunning break since I started doing it.

What about y'all?

Likely going to do Game Boy Tetris 2 runs. Noticed it doesn't have a separate page already; was gonna request but noticed the GB console is listed on here.

Should I submit my run on this page, or request one Tetris 2 (GB) similar to how Tetris 1 is?

'Ello. I notice many games might have a page that covers a game over a multitude of platforms, while others might have separate pages for individual consoles. I can see different scenarios where either choice might be most appropriate.

What I've started to come across recently playing really old games, particularly using DOS as a starting point, is that some releases have been ported to a number of consoles, handhelds, and obscure computers of yesterday land. Consoles and handhelds are generally sufficiently different in my mind to justify their own boards on a lot of cases. A SNES/Genesis port may be different but sufficiently enough to put together... various GB's and such.

Generally, I use (MS-DOS) when necessary, or sometimes exclude the parenthetical if the other versions (NES)/(GB) are already marked.

However, coming across more and more games that MS/DOS + Amstrand + AppleII + literally think of the most obscure eletronics from the 1980's. They can vary quite a bit, as you can imagine. So many ports had to be adjusted to the specific hardware used in the machines. Additionally, literally no runs them (I will at some point more often, but, yeah it's clearly a rare thing).

So my question is literally boiling down to this: Is it appropriate to use as (CPU) as a marking for a game page that's specifically handling all computer variations while leaving the console versions on their own pages? I mean, part of me doesn't want to make a page for a game for Commodore 64 and MS-DOS, just because a NES page already exists; something along those lines.

Having a little trouble finding the right thing. Any help is appreciated.

So, I was going to do an Any%, but I noticed the only run is has a time that involved ending the timer sooner than all the 100% runs.

Specifically the Any% run appears to end when the last piece is placed for the duck, essentially, while all the 100% runs actually wait for the last animation to complete before ending the time (which makes sense, as different paths might take longer).

How should I proceed?

I've changed the timer to occur on character selection (more specifically, when the black screen begins scrolling across the character menu since that's the first visual cue). Requested to make it fair no matter what character is selected; which makes sense to me.

I've changed the rules to reflect this. Additionally, corrected the rules for Green% which is "You Are Master of the New Urth."

So, I did a SNES run (since I've been using this game to test out emulators and such) but I noticed the current run that is there is different from the GB ones in that it doesn't manipulate the pre-game menu and leaves all values at their default state.

I feel a little bad a submitting a time that is substantially better because it's an easier difficulty and there are less rounds of actual fighting. Given the information, is there any objection to making a subcat distinguishing Any% from what might be "Green%" or something? I don't mind setting it up, and writing some general rules anyway; but I just wanted to make sure there was no objection to this.

So, I was messing around with some stuff, and it appears as though the Genesis and GameGear version are very different. The main issue being that there doesn't actually appear to be any sort of end game available.

I'm not sure it's really worth making a category in particular for them, as I can't imagine one outside something like "one million dollars" which appear like it could be accomplished with cheats very quickly, or something like win a hand at all 11 games or something.

In any case, just wanted to throw it out there that Any Ending and Best Ending don't appear to apply for these console versions. I did not test the PS version yet.

Hello. I was thinking of running the NES Family Feud. Is it possible to have it added here or should I request it separately?
