Awesome!
So the setup isn't to bad. Not sure if the graphics make it more likely to crash so I have everything relatively low just in case.
-
So to start go to USER\Documents\My Games\Murdered Soul Suspect\FateGame\Config\
-
Then open "FateEngine" in notepad
-
Press CTRL+F and type in " bforcenomovies ". Once found change the " FALSE " to " TRUE " Should look like bForceNoMovies=TRUE
-
Cutscenes will now automatically skip but before that there is one more setting to change to prevent crashes.
-
Scroll back to the very top of the notepad file you have open. CTRL+F and type " bsmoothframerate"
-
Copy and paste this in it's place
bSmoothFrameRate=true MinSmoothedFrameRate=30 MaxSmoothedFrameRate=60
- After that make sure you save changes.
- Then one last thing, right click on the "FateEngine" file and go properties. At the bottom of the general tab there will be a checkbox that says "Read Only". Make sure this is checked then apply.
After that you are all good to go! If anyone gets stuck or comes across issues let me know and I will do my best to help you out.
If you could take all the cutscenes out of the game would you? Because there is a way to do so.
Only issue is you have to cap the fps around 60 so it doesn't crash every time you are going through evidence to fast.
Makes the game a much quicker run, I timed a pretty sloppy run but managed a 42 minute run.
Basically unskippable cutscenes don't add anything to the run, it becomes all about execution and eliminates the frustration of watching tons of cutscenes only to have to make a mistake and hve to suffer through those cutscenes again. With this you can reset instanty if you aren't happy and makes it more enjoyable to reset runs.
Maybe even make it a sub category for any%. Have a Cutscenes and No Cutscenes sub category if you don't want to merge it into one? If other runners are interested I can post a run on this forum with a guide on how to set it up. I have found a way to make it very stable, done 4 or so runs now with it and no crashes.
Here is what it looks like
Yeah I mean it isn't a large game so maybe just energy cells can be skipped and we can jump straight to 100% and we can always come back to just energy cells maybe later down if the game gains traction. I think 100% basically offers the same things all energy cells does anyways, longer, fast paced and can be the next step up from any%. I am not against the idea at all
CloudedRage mentioned maybe doing an all energy cells type run. I agreed that it could be decent, give the run a but more longevity and you would get to use the dash power up a whole lot more, making it pretty fast pace but requiring a good route and accurate movement. Could be an interesting category and I see it taking much longer to optimise than Any% to keep it interesting for new and current runners to compete in. I definitely believe it deserves a chance as a category and would definitely do some runs myself for something like this. :)
It also works on keyboard and mouse for anyone who can't get a controller to work like myself. You just have to spam scroll wheel up and down as you approach the trigger for the animation. You can get it 9/10 times I would say
If you have both games in the directory you can set it to automatically switch discs.
On the top go to options - configuration, then there is a check box with the option "Change discs automatically"
I might get around to it, currently going for 100% again if anyone else is interesting and wants to start on it i think it could be cool to see
Like a knife only but since Moria uses a crowbar and little one uses bricks. Was wondering if anyone has tried something like this since the skills tree improves on knife, melee and take down damage
Jin would work fine but wouldn't register inputs, didn't matter if analog or digital and fin wouldn't load any games.
They just don't work. Done a lot of troubleshooting and nothing works. I originally ran on the ePSXe with no issues but I saw you guys only allow 2 emulators.
I guess this just means I can't post runs here?
Yeah I can work on that. You mean like explain the category in order of things to do?
Since this game is extremely optimised, if we starting getting tied times should we change the timing method to milliseconds?
If you can't include a timer in your runs that's all good I don't mind timing them myself before verification.
Personally I think so since it is really optimised and it makes sense for a 2D game with little room for movement errors to have a tighter timing method.
Depends on whether current runners agree or disagree. I won't change it unless runners of this game agree to it c:
Nice, games coming on up :p
Also I have a run waiting to be verified when you can boss :)
Lone wolf run
Happy Ending? run
Only other 2 I can think of that make that would have different routing all around would be Happy Ending? and Lone Wolf ending.
Happy ending having Eve kill the gangsters then escaping, you will see Eves' apartment in this run. Lone wolf is killing the gangsters yourself with the gun then escaping which will require you to do the entire basement without getting caught triggering eves' apartment and losing the gun.
I did a happy ending run and am working on a lone wolf ending now. The game isn't very big so these endings make the routes as different as they can possibly be.
We have someone on our discord playing it switch so I don't see why not
Yeah I thought about that but it would still make it tough for console runners to go through all the loads and take them out. PC it is much more convenient with load removal being a feature in timers nowadays.
If this becomes a popular topic then I will happily change it. It will make run verification take a little longer since it is a long game with a lot of loads. :)
Any talk about rules, help or general talk about how things work goes here.
If anyone needs guides just ask :)
