If you want to see, it's on https://www.speedrun.com/dadish/level/Kastelo_Fortress_8
(But obvs if anyone's reading this post in a few days time the recent runs will be different.)
I am from England, which has its own flag as well as the UK flag. I have chosen to display the UK flag as my country flag on the site.
The problem is that the site seems very inconsistent in which flag it displays - for example I have a UK flag displayed on the leaderboard, but right below it the England flag in the "recent runs" list - both next to my name.
It might be that because they have to verify hundreds of runs, they decided they could do without runs from a phone camera where they have to squint to see what is going on
Don't get me wrong, I am aware that it is possible to record well with a phone camera. HOWEVER I think that lots of these runs would have reflections covering half the screen and collectively take a huge amount of effort to verify correctly.
@KilleDragon good point - I hadn't thought of that 🤦
The reason cheating is less obvious with recording with phone I think comes from people sticking two videos together and pretending it's one run (for example, the video jumps from 5 apples to 20 apples and cuts out everything in between).
With an OBS screen recording it is (theoretically) possible to splice the two videos together and there be no sign of cheating, but with a phone camera it would be blatantly obvious that the video had cut because the lighting in the room and background noise would have jumped.
Ok fair do's toogs, I assumed that it was 1p because hardcore always used to do 1p. My bad.
Thanks! So far I've managed to avoid the really hard levels, and my times generally aren't that great on the rest.

The (2p) Luigi any% world record was just beaten by someone who plays in 1p mode, which shows it is not yet a very significant difference.

Generally people hold two wiimotes in 1 hand (taping them together) to control both cursors together.
-
As you might be able to see from the age of the last post in this thread, this has been argued about for at least 5 years - time and time again we have decided that it is better to keep the categories together - if you want to only see 1p runs you can filter the leaderboards.
I think the problem would be, how do other people know that the mods you're using only affect the visuals (not the gameplay)?
After using motion controls to go quickly, rolling normally without motion controls is just painfully slow and not enjoyable for me either
But if you end it before the storybook, nobody will watch the storybook cutscene and then no-one will know all the mario lore :,(
There should be a discord logo that you can click to take you to the server on the page somewhere?
If not, https://discord.gg/2ApjjtHgsv
This is the server for both games.
You need to record your speedrun and upload the video to YouTube (or any other public video site), so that other people can see it.
Then, go to the leaderboard of whichever run you did and click "submit run", then fill in the details. (Also, read the rules so that you have definitely recorded the right thing)
But that means don't do modding, because modding is almost entirely downloading programs off people you don't know and running them without knowing what they will do.
I'm not saying you can't be more/less careful with modding, I'm just saying that I disagree with anyone who thinks modding can be completely safe
Idk about on consoles or apple but on Android I have the option to clear app storage - it deleted my progress without having to install the game again. very useful.
Emulators themselves aren't piracy, but it is illegal to download copies of the game of the internet to use in them so be careful.
(Posting links to download the game would get your message deleted, and maybe worse)
@mickystan I think the CRC could still be useful - you can buy the outfits as soon as wooded/lake apparently, so going to wooded to get the outfit and then doing morning metro instead of wooded, cloud and lost would be faster
I mean it's basically any% up to the start of metro, then jump on the scooter. (You'd have to grab a few extra coins along the way for the outfits I guess)
