I tried both of them. Second one is definitely faster, but personally I think the first one's actually slower, because. A: If you take the right path, you can't even hit the rail unless you take a wide line or a slow jump. B: Going left instead is easier, but that path is slower than going right. And C: Because unlike the second one, whichever way you take, you are shot into the rail, which slows you down.
You can also do it without boosting, but doing it that way causes you to lose balance.
I am testing a strategy on Extreme Snowboarding. Heres how it works:
Go around the course as normal, until you get to the part where the road splits in two with the Chain Chomp. You want to take the left path here. Go down that way, and here's where it gets interesting. There's a guardrail on your left and right, but, if you hit the very end of the wall on the right side, you get warped further ahead, much faster than normal. Why does this happen? No idea, but what I can say is, some characters can't do this zip.
For example, I've tried this with Peach, but to little to no success, but I have been able to get it with Bowser quite easily. The closer to the end of the wall you hit, the further you seem to be warped. This could shave off as much as 2 seconds per lap, plus the fact that Bowser might just be the fastest character in the game, could be enough to take the record lower.
I myself have actually known about this for a long time, but I just thought I'd share it with the rest of you.
Just a heads up, for new runners, when you submit a time on an IL (Individual Level), only in-game time is required. If you submit real time on an IL, this could mess up the leaderboard and put your time in the wrong place on the standings. I've seen a few who have been submitting real time instead of in-game time, so just a reminder that this is not the right way to time an IL.
Hey, just want to inform you, I successfully pulled off your strat. Problem is though, it probably isn't faster in a run, due to having to store those mushrooms. As you can see in this video, I used Tails and, although I hit a block, was able to go over them and finish.

The world record for Speed Skating 500m is wrong. The claimed record is 28.149 seconds but the real record is 27.832 seconds.
Don't worry. I've improved my record, so it should be fixed now.
I noticed that as well. I think it's on my part though, because I accidentally submitted Real Time when it wasn't necessary. My bad 😅
