Stage RTAs and singlestars can be started from any entrance, unlike savestateless completions. You can see that in Treasure World, where runners will start a Crumb Climb stage RTA from Wall Wall Mountain, or a Sky High Castle RTA from Autumn Memories.
I might attempt a run to see if this works out. TTM100 is borderline impossible because the slide literally crashes, but 70 star might be doable.
The issue is that Low% is an umbrella term and if you haven't decided on what to minimize yet, you should. There's pauseless, damageless, staminaless, foodless, and a whole barrage of other possible Low% categories. Pick one.
Get 12 people to run it and it will be considered.
For the last month, I've been trying to reach the moderators by
- attempting to find a non-expired invite link for the original Discord server
- making forum posts
- writing contact requests into the notes of submitted runs
- messaging a moderator
- setting up a second Discord server and informing the moderators about it. These attempts have been unsuccessful. How can I talk to the moderators about important issues regarding the speedgame, such as
- having a place to talk (a Discord server with an invite link that actually works, and that people realize exists)
- considering improvements to the leaderboard structure and the number of similar categories
- getting assured that submitted runs will be verified, even if it sometimes takes 4 weeks
- staying up to date with what new categories are being run that don't have a leaderboard yet?
Now that there's 80 categories instead of 60, this applies even more.
Hi. As you have probably noticed, the invite link for the first LoR speedrun server has expired, and no steps have been taken to produce a permanent invite link for the same server.
So for the time being, I've made a new, different server which will have a permanently functional invite link: https://discord.gg/cTnSG5Rspn
If the old server gets recovered through a permanent invite link, the two servers will likely merge.
60 categories seem like a bit too much to sustain competition, and indeed we see almost exclusively runs for the easiest and the hardest categories. In addition to moving the runs to an IL board, removing intermediate difficulties could help make the game more competitive and orientable.
This would follow a precedent set by Age of Empires I, II DE (formerly also II but there even easiest was removed), Anno 1404, and probably many similar games.
Personally I have no intentions of uploading or even recording any further Hard and Heroic playthroughs that I go through to unlock Legendary mode, and I've deleted my submission of Riven on Heroic to speed up the verification of runs that I actually care about.
With a full 60 different categories, the Lab of Legends tab is becoming very cluttered, and it is really hard to check for what categories have runs and what don't (let alone which ones have new WRs). Since Lab of Legends runs are specified by 2 main variables - champion and difficulty - the Individual Levels table would be a very efficient way to handily display all of the records.
Below that, it would even be possible to also add the tutorials ("challenges") as "Normal" difficulty, to unclutter the board even more.
You can capture without throwing, even in 1p. One guy ever did it in 1p with 3 cap throws, I think 2p is a bit less niche but hasn't taken off either
How is the category defined?
In the latest update, it is not only possible to reroll starting powers indefinitely without resetting, but the rerolled powers will stay the same if you go back to the champion select screen and reselect your champion.
This lets you roll for the power you want indefinitely without the timer running, and then instead of starting the timer on power select like I resuggested yesterday, you can just go back to Champ select, start the run, and immediately select the desired power.
This obsoletes a small controversy while also helping make runs less reset-heavy.
Also please, if anyone who is in the Discord server could make a permanent invite link and post it on the game info, that would be appreciated.
there's no disctinction from choosing your first power and susbequent ones in terms of how they are integrated in the gameplay
This has changed with (I think) the latest update, as you now get unlimited rerolls for your first power, but once you "actually" start the campaign you only have 3 rerolls. This change is why I would have suggested this today if it had not been suggested already.
