-Delayed Swandive: Ban -Clipping through collision: Ban -Vsync: Since it's supposed to be glitchless ruleset, I don't see why this option would even matter, unless it gives you higher movement speed or something like that. -Backwards handspringing/rolling up slippery slopes: This is probably same as using swandive/sommersault for faster movement, or jumping in tomp 1/2. I don't see it as a glitch. -Grappling hook assisted pick ups: Not sure what this means :/
I think you misunderstand my point of view. I have nothing against changing graphics settings via in-game options, console or launchers, as long as it's done using the officially released version.
The problem are 3rd party mods, which may change how the speedrun is played, therefore pretty much every community do not allow them, and if they do, shame on them. Even if you allow mods that just enhance the graphics, its author may release a new version in future that can give you advantage in a speedrun. Visual mods may look harmless, but there are games where speedrunners use textures/objects to do a setup for a precise trick. I'm not saying D3 is one of those games, but who knows.
He said he wants to use a mod, not change in-game graphics settings.
And using brigher lightning and textures is not cheating? Even if graphic mods don't change the gameplay at all, you still can get advantage by seeing better, better reference points for difficult tricks, possibly better framerate, etc.
Hello guys,
I have noticed that all Any% runs are actually Any% NG+ since they all use profiles at high level with unlocked skills and item slots.
They are most likely different. We did not set up leaderboards for these platforms as they are obscure and noone showed any interest whatsoever to run it.
But if you plan to run them, I can create a separate leaderboards. Just need a confirmation the game is actually different (like for example The Run on PC/PS and on Wii).
Hi,
https://www.speedrun.com/nfsu1
So I just recently found out that there is an old version on PC that have locked framerate to 120fps, which makes it run TWICE as fast as on other version, which have the framerate locked to 60fps (obviously it was a fix). It behaves exactly as 2.00 speed on Youtube.
Now, the general rule in speedrunning is that you should use a faster version on PC, but that is in regard to glitches and shortcuts, not in regard to game speed.
I am not sure what to do now. If the framerate would be unlocked and the more fps you'd have, the faster the game would become, it would be a nobrainer and I would simply ban it, but considering the framerate is actually locked (engine lock), everyone can compete.
What do you guys think? Ban or allow?
Segmented runs can be MUCH more frustrating to run compared to RTA runs, if you want to do a proper segmented run that is. Trust me, I've been speedrunning for over 11 years. It can really test your patience if you're restarting a one minute level several hundred times just to get the best RNG and all tricks executed as fast as humanly possible. There are also people (mostly newcomers) that dislike/hate these runs for some weird reason.
Also, some games would be actually slower, usually on console, due to necessary saving/loading or no saving at all.
Another reason is that you can quite easily cheat in a segmented run, especially on PC, and nobody would notice. You can of course cheat in RTA run as well, but not as much.
This is kind of an old bug, but maybe nobody reported it:
If you add a variable to a category with already existing runs and set any value as default, all runs will disappear since they didn't have any value when they were submitted.
You can use any vanilla version you want. We only said that you don't need any specific version, so you just use 1.32c
