It wasn't. I'm trying to say that this run was accepted FIVE years ago on tombrunner.net, because we didn't have any rule about using replay level (we had a rule about hardest difficulty though, but that was pretty normal for segmented runs back then). You could use pretty much as many segments as you wanted to optimize the level as much as possible, since some tricks are really difficult. Why? The same as RogerL said - the point of a speedrun is to beat the game/level as fast as possible.
If you're also following classics Tomb Raiders, you might have noticed a lot of ILs recently that also use multiple segments to perform tricks that wouldn't be possible to pull-off in just one segment.
Why should TRL/TRA be any different?
If it's really that big of a problem, then create a segmented subcategory like full-game leaderboards, but DO NOT delete already accepted runs unless it's cheated or so. That's the stupidest thing you can do as mods.
"ILs have always used Replay Level in forever"
Maybe here, but on tombrunner.net
Well, I would like to run the game on original version, on lowest difficulty (to save the most time), probably using either wmware with DOS or Steam version. I'll have to see first how the cycles are set in Steam version running on Dosbox.
Is there really any difference, or is it just because "it doesn't follow the rules" thing?
Hi,
Could you please add a bit more reasonable category that allows you to use manual saving and any difficulty you want?
Seems like Cadarev removed it because it didn't use the "replay level" function. Not sure why, though. Cadarev?
Actually, I removed it since it doesn't make sense. You will pretty much always hit the same %
Lowest number of laps should be used, imho, so 3. That is also what most players on that site use, so we should stick with that. Also, someone could maybe send them an echo about speedrun.com to possibly create more competition ;)
You don't need an account to view the records.
Best laps - Results by track, then click on the screenshot to see the best laps.
Sadly they only list 3-4 laps race times, not best laps, which is what I meant. Most racing games have some sort of "hot lap" leaderboard.
I'd recommend to simply do a casual run, submit it and we will look at it.
Or you can join our discord channel and I'm sure someone will tell you what you can't use: https://discord.gg/011hZixyZfK5g61NL

For some reason my profile says I'm in 1st place for http://www.speedrun.com/traod#Any_segmented, even though I'm 2nd.
The game ends when you kill Dierker, the only difference in your run is that there is no ending cutscene and the credits are bugged, which doesn't change the fact the game is finished. There's a similar ending in Two Worlds, where you agro an entire village to kill the final boss right at the beginning... which you're not supposed to be able to do, although the cutscene and credits play fine.
I still think your run should be in Any% category since credits is pretty much always considered as beating the game, no matter how you achieve it. In PoP: SoT, they don't even fight the final boss, they just zip right to the credits trigger.
