Victory is indeed required on every maps for the run to be valid. If defeat occurs you need to open the menu click the "restart mission" option.

I will add it to the rules button just so that there won't be anyone doing it thinking it is a legit strategy.

Sniper classes are the fastest default classes when it comes to mouvement. They walk/sprint a bit faster than the Storm troopers and Engineer classes. Dark Trooper is pretty good since his jet pack launches him foward. Jet trooper on the other hand only fly in air with no increase of speed. The jet trooper mouvement on the ground is equal to the Storm and Engineer classes.

It has been a while since I tested this but I think I remembered the scout trooper still being faster to go to the 2nd objective in Utapau. You also have to factor in the time you take to switch class. The jet trooper is not guaranted either, you have to kill enough ennemies to be able to select it which does not always happens in Utapau.

--Coruscant Librairies-- If you leave at the 30 seconds mark with at least 2 bookcases left, you should be fine even if there is 1 jedi left. Getting of all the jedis is the most thing to do. Soldiers are usually not too much a treat but can do a lot of damage sometimes if stuck on a certain AI pattern (like standing in front of bookcase firing rockets or grenades non stop).

--Polis Masa-- Suicide between the 2515 seconds mark for the first few runs. It really sucks to lose a run there especially if you are new speed running this game.

I want to make this thread so we can discuss strategies for the Instant Action categories.

There is maps were certains teams have the advantage over the other. We also have to take in consideration vehicules and heroes each team has avaiable. A lot of times the ennemy AI is more or less scripted to attack a certain CP first rather than other CPs possible. Knowledge about these kind of information can help us create strategies that can hopefully be as consitent as possible.

If you find any strategies or ideas that could be good for Instant Action, please share with us here. :)

I just have added my personal notes for Conquest% Galactic Civil War Era. I think I have a decent amount good reliable strategies for this category, but there is still a lot that either I am not sastified with or don't really have a great game plan for it yet so keep that in mind.

I also have notes for CTF Clone Wars Era, I will be adding that too once my make my notes a bit cleaner.

  1. Most people are using either LiveSplit or WSplit as a timer software.

LiveSplit has a lot of customization options while WSplit is a much more simple program and takes a bit less CPU usage.

2)There is many ways you can submit a video for the leaderboards. Like Wryvin said, you can create a highlight from one of your past broadcast. Just click on the past broadcast video you want to edit, then click the "3 dot" button and select highlight.

From there you will be able select the section of your run and create a video with it. You can even upload that highlight video to Youtube with the export option. Highlights video do not have a maximum length I belive.

You can also use the local recording option with OBS if you want and then use a video editing software to create a video with your run. Streaming while the local recording is active does work.

My personal setup is a bit more unique. I am currently speed running the Xbox version on a Xbox 360. The HDMI signal from the Xbox 360 goes to my AverMedia which records the footage in a very nice quality. Then the AverMedia sends the signal to my elgato device which allows my computer to receive the footage and stream it. And then the elgato sends it to my monitor so I can play the game without any kind of lag.

As long as there isnt any maps that are not part of that category in between what you want to submit (ex: do not have bunch of hunt missons in between the conquest missions if you want to submit a conquest run). I dont see any issues with that. :)

I kinda did the same thing for a Kashyyyk IL submission which I took the footage from one of my old full game PBs because I really did not felt like doing actually ILs attempts lol (because Kashyyyk is a 10 minutes auto-scroller for those who do not know).

And yeah there is absolutely no reasons to turn friendly fire off in general for speed runs. Your allies' grenades wont be able to damage you anyway, you just have to worry about not killing your own self lol.

I have been doing a bunch of CTF runs this week and sometimes I end missions with like minus 40 points because my teamates keep picking up the flags.

I feel like the audio was working earlier when I verified them (I do remember that the mygeeto one was working at least).

I also get copyrighted audio problems with Youtube from time to time. Usually it is always Kashyyyk the problem when I am about to capture the second CP at the end of the mission.

You might be able to fix your problem without reuploading your videos. Go to:

Video manager --> Edit (on the video you want) --> Audio --> Remove a Song

The remove a song option might fix it, only a few seconds of the video will be remove.

If you want to reupload/re-record it is up to you, I dont mind. :) I am at work at the moment, I wont be able to hear anything for now.

That is correct. The heavy trooper only has a maximum of 3 mines on the PC version while consoles versions have 4.

The strategy that I use on the Xbox version allows me to not have to stop to the ammo droid. There is a lot of different ways you can deal with the acklays, but generally it is better to stop for at least an extra mine since you are already using 2 of them to get rid of the acklay that spawns far way.

PC and consoles versions have a surpring large amount of very slight diffenrences. Here is all of them I can think of at the moment:

-- PC advantage -- -Infinite sprint is PC only -You can use a mine to destroy the spaceship at the end Death Star

-- Console advantage -- -Heavy Trooper has 4 mines -Can spawn with Bobba Fett in Kamino closer to the door -Can disable the objective screen that appears every new objectives -Dark Trooper's Arc Blaster firing rate is faster and just a bit better overall. -Menuing is generally faster on console since you are doing direction inputs instead clicking -Tantive IV OoB that saves about 1 second if done right

There is also some tiny differences in the way you play, like for example the sprint button on console allows you to sprint right away, while on PC it will take a half second to activate so you either alway have to hold it before hand or you can do a double tap and hold "W".

Here is some of the categories and ruleset I could create. Tell me if you are ok with it or if you want something to be different.

--- All Maps Conquest CW% and All Maps Conquest GCW% --- I think having a category for each era seperate would be a good idea. It avoids replaying the same map twice. The run become shorter and maybe this will make it more accessible to some people.

Plus each eras have some unique missions to them. CW = Genosis GCW = Hoth and Endor

--- All Maps Hunt% --- This should includes all eras this time since there is only 6 of them and none of them repeat a map.

--- All Maps CTF CW% and All Maps Conquest GCW% --- Same logic as mentionned for Conquest. 2-flag and 1-flag are combined of course.

--- All Maps Assault% --- All eras again since there is only 6 missions + the special map Mos Eisley. This is kind of weird to include Mos Eisley since this category is supposed a space mission focused one, but it is marked as a assault mission so would not make sense to remove it either.

--- General Ruleset Stuff --- In this section I want to talk about some general rules that will apply to all of these categories. There is a lot of configurations that can be changed in Instant Action so we will need determine settings we want everyone to use to do runs. A lot of stuff can change based on you guys feedback, but in general I think we should stick to the default settings.

--General-- AI unit per unit is at 16 per team by default. That is ok? More or less would be interesting?

--Hero-- This section is kind of important. By default it is set to 10 points and 90 seconds respawn time. It is possible to set to timer and always so that you will always be able to spawn with a jedi which is obviously a lot faster.

While the idea of playing through instant action with the jedis always on sounds really fun to me, I dont think it is the right thing to do because I am sure that some people would want to speed run instant action the "standard" way. Jedi% could be it own thing in that regard.

--Conquest-- Reinforcement set 100% (150points=100%), timer off

--CTF-- The default score needed is five to win. Do we keep that or do we put the score lower to get through missions faster? Timer off again, otherwise it is not a speed run :p

--Assault-- Default score is 180 just like in galactic conquest.

--Hunt-- Default score is 50.

-- Defeat -- Faillure to win a mission will not count as completing it. If you are defeat in a mission, you can press (Esc/Start) on the "Defeat" screen and then "Restart Mission". Don't wait too long or you will miss it.

-- XL problem -- XL missions does not exist in the consoles versions, not sure what we are going to do about it. It would only affect 100% run at the moment.

-- Load Time -- As any other run of this game on the leaderboard, removing loading time is going to be important so that it is fair play to everyone. Since you can not skip the victory screen in Instant Action, I think it would be ok to remove the loading from the apperance of the victory screen to the black screen at the beginning of mission. It would make it easier for people to time there runs if they feel like it.

If you there is any details I missed let me know. Share your thoughts and ideas.

Instant action speed running is pretty hard to verify and make rules that are good for everybody. There is a lot of different categories/rulesets possiblities. RotE makes senses because you play it from the beginning to the end, but instant action does not have any definitive end to it.

I also have not played around in instant action in a while so I'll have take a look on how some of these missions work again.

Lako3000 did propose some interesting ideas in the forums a little while ago. If we were to make a leaderboard for instant actions, we need to share to share our opinions/ideas and make the ruleset something that everyone can agree on. Check out the forum topic: "Misc Category Ideas" and see if some of these ideas sounds interesting to you.

I still need to think about it, but I think an example of a category could be "All Maps CTF%". Doing a map more than once is kind annoying because it is too repetitive so that is why I would personally prefer avoiding categories with CTF and assault mixed together (unless if you really really want to do a 100% type of run).

For anyone that would be interested in instant actions, please let us know here and share your opinion. :)

What kind of glitches are you refering to? Are these galactic conquest exclusive? I have not done too much GC speed running because I highly prefer RotE runs.

The main glitch used in RotE speed runs is the infinite sprint trick. This trick is really precise so much so that some runners do not even bother with it. It does not save that much time when you get it, but it is a fun mechanic and it adds another optimization aspect to the speed run.

So when it comes to infinite sprint in GC, there is no reasons why it should not be allowed. However if there is some GC exclusive game breaking glitch existing, we might have to talk about what to do about it (banned/create new category).

I just take Windows Movie Maker to time these runs. Not a great software when it comes to actual video editing since it is heavily limited in options, but it is pretty acurate so it works fine for this purpose.

What I like to do is to use a video editing software and cut out every loading of my run. I basicly create a video with all the missions together and then it gives me the time without loads.

You could also rewatch your run and pause the timer when the loading occurs, but that is a bit less accurate.

To time a level, you must time from when the black screen appears to when you press "Yes" on the "Quit" option.

I tried Battlefront 2 with my new computer the other day and then I found out that I had the same glitch. I will use this fix next time I have to play the PC version.

I do not know a lot about galactic conquest, I never much interest in it since it is super random and there is not much actually strategies in it.

^Useful information and also a part where it explains what you can do to try and manipulation the Ai on the world map.

If you are playing on console versions, it will be much harder manipulation the Ai in the position you want (also a bit more annoying since loading times are longer).

No problem :) . Most of the time you are using heroes/jedis in galactic conquest. They are not affected by the awards that is why you probably did not saw them.

Yes they are allowed, every galactic conquest runs are currently using them.

For the rise of the empire speed runs, we have a category for runs with bonuses/awards and then another category for runs that starts from a fresh file.
