And Slither.io just got a category extension! I was told we couldn't have one for Crossy Road for the same reasons that game would have, if not worse.
In what ways have the rules gotten stricter over the years.
My request for a "Hipster Whale" game series was rejected because "a game series is not necessary", but there are many other game series that are far less "necessary" than this. There is a Hill Top Racing series (and they even have Category Extension?), a Hypixel Series (literally not even a game), a Eddynardo series (web games), numerous ROM hack series, numerous fan game series, and even game series with zero players. Rules aren't applied consistently.
@YoloMenace001 You can but it will probably go in unrestricted.
In the event a category is deemed "dead", we can remove it so there is more room for more interesting categories. We are retiring our first two today, with the first being "New Year's Doll". We are choosing to remove this because Hipster Whale actually removed this character from the game, so you would need an older version to play it. Also, no one plays it anymore. So the rankings for this stand as: k200 - 6.58 () Dare - 6.94 () Otterstone_Gamer - 7.83 () ENOOPS - 10.71 ()
We are also retiring "Fastest Goal". The standings for that was: k200 - 2.233 () Dare - 3.250 ()
If you run these categories and want to be on this list, please message me. Thanks.
Because many of the course themes differ from the original, those runs will now be moved into the "unrestricted" portion under Misc Categories. These themes include the Space theme (no trains, one sized asteroids, large spacepad sections), At-Home runs (One sized vehicles, stampede sections), the cheerleader characters (Larger open spaces), Psy and Daddy, Blue and Big Fancy Pig (Cannons), and Party themed characters, except for coin runs. Of course, this also included all characters that also have their separate modes, such as Pac-man. Thanks.
There are almost certainly players in the early days that belong on this list, but I can't find many quality videos from the 2014-2015 era.
I'm not sure who verified it originally. We have had mods who didn't check times. The cheating was somewhat subtle and an untrained eye wouldn't have spotted it. The player had nothing to do with Guiness and Crossy Road on SRC never has, but one of our players and mods, Ronnie Weston, did get into an issue half a decade ago. Proof standards were pretty lax before this game hit its peak in popularity. Nowadays, we would be able to catch a cheated run like that, and we have.
He sped up his run and hacked in coins and whn we confronted him, he deleted it.
On the discord server we have new challenges every week. The Mobile WR was set during one of them. JoshuaBeesley won the first week.
This is a timeline recognizing High Score World Record holders, whether they've submitted here or not. All that is needed in a video.

And that's where the record stands today. If you have any evidence of other records, please say so. I will update this if another record is broken. Good luck to all who try.
@JoshuaBeesley I might, but at that point it's not really a speedrun. Very few people have made it that far, and most who get to 1000 don't upload their time, so we are only looking at a couple runs being uploaded.
@Oreo321 I have spoken to moderators and Crossy Road being labelled at unofficial is very much intentional, which makes sense with the reasoning that one of them used. It does have to do with the leaderboard's content. Yes, I think they should fix the tags on those games. It is felt that not traditional speedruns shouldn't be shown on the front page, from what I was told. Around a fifth of the top 50 runs are games that should be considered nonofficial by the reasoning that was used. It doesn't make sense to let some games chose their tags and some games not.
