sounds interesting, but I don't really understand what you mean. Aren't the treasures infinitely spawning?

To clarify, I am not against long runs at all, but speedruns are typically limited to what people would be able to do in one sitting unless you allow for runs to be adjourned. I'm talking about runs that you wouldn't be able to complete in a single day.

Too many of these good ideas take way too long. I did a challenge run recruiting all the unique npcs, another trying to get all of the legendary weapons, and a third trying to get all the tech. All of which too way too long to do in one sitting, although it may be more interesting to see what someone could do in terms of in game time. for example taking over the map in x in game days rather than some amount of RTA time.

Hello Everyone, on next Tuesday the 27th starting at roughly 9am-10am est a fellow speedrunner, FroztFox, and I will be blind racing the 100% category. We will both be streaming our perspectives.

Winner has eternal bragging rights while the loser has to hang their head in shame.

What I mean by this is creating a save, not playing on it and backing it up. Then checking on what patterns (for instance, the Cairo skip pattern) exist and memorizing to complete the game faster. This would save some time, however I am not sure if it is legal/ should be legal for this speedrun. There are not many rules that I can tell so I was unsure if this had already been discussed. I think some other edutainment leaderboards allow this kind of manipulation too.

No, I mean a speedrun where you have to finish all variants in an RTA format instead of single segmant/IL

Accusing another speedrunner of cheating is a serious accusation, that should not be thrown around lightly. The burden of proof is on the accuser to prove reasonably that the speedrun was cheated after it was already verified. If you are referring to the run that was discussed on the discord, it does look suspicious due to the jump of the mouse, however this could simply be the video recorder skipping some frames due to various reasons. I am looking to bring this matter to the attention of the other mods, but given the circumstances a snap decision should not be made before the run is carefully analyzed. depending on the results of investigation the run will either stay, or be removed promptly.

Mods should add all puzzles and all variants categories.

Puzzle progress can be reset for verification purposes in the menus btw

Edit: I was messing around with the US version of the game, and was quite surprised to find out that this doesn't work for some reason. Maybe I am just out of practice but I wasn't able to fire any sneeze berries after queueing the laptrap menu. Therefore, I think this trick is exclusive to the buggy UK version. This means that there is a trade off between the two versions, Either you can skip the long slide cutscene, or skip the dialogue. I believe that the dialogue skip actually would save more time but is a lot harder to do and can easily kill runs when you mess up. Therefore, unless small amounts of time need to be saved, the US version should be technically a little bit better. ( For reference, my best guesses are that the slide cs skip is ~20 seconds, while perfect dialogue skip on all rings is ~8-10 sec each or ~32-40 seconds total)

This skips the Joni dialogue on the rings of fire, and saves around 4-5 seconds per use. Note: You cannot use this on the yellow bridge, because this trick will cause you to softlock.

the trick works by mapping away when during the dialogue, thus saving time. We would like to just open laptrap but the game doesn't allow you to once you complete the puzzle.

To perform this trick, hit every tile except for one on the ring of fire. Then you need to click laptrap and quickly(you have ~1/3 of a second from what i can tell) click on the last tile. If you perform this correctly, the tile should get hit and the bridge should start to rise. You must map away only after the bridge starts to rise, or else you will crash/softlock. You can use esc while in the laptrap UI in order to skip the initial part of the dialogue.

This trick is 100% consistent, just really hard to perform. It would be easier if we had an easier way to open the laptrap UI. Also, from what I can tell, mapping away can skip any dialogue(results may vary with crashing/softlocking and performing a skip such as this.)

Edit: Not that anyone cares, but for documentation purposes, Ive discoverd that the animation that plays when you click claptrap is responsible for the delayed opening of the UI which allows this skip. if you hit esc you can see that cancelling this animation makes the UI open quicker.
