Drako you wouldn't want to be seen as testing moderators, which gets you a straight up ban. So if you catch your own error, best to correct it instead of letting it go through in bad faith.
At least they:
are active can be contacted actually run the game despite being in last place by a country mile wisely chose not to waste the admin's time by contacting them to restore the old board, and even added new exciting categories like high score!
Destroying all previous records and rejecting runs that can be edited is a small price to pay for having such a dedicated mod.
@Tyt00s Let me get this straight. You decided not to suggest a game even though it was playable and eligible for the site, because it was in Early Access. Someone else requested it later, before you did. You tried to explain to them that this was a "mistake" because they're just a "random somebody." And you aren't happy with their response.
:/ Do you see the situation you've put yourself in? "I thought of it first" doesn't really get you anywhere. You'll need to provide more info and possibly proof of wrongdoing to have a successful appeal to site staff.
I hope you can repair what must be a weird start to the relationship now between you and the super mod.
One tiny issue I personally noticed with the board: the super mod promoted a 1-day-old account to regular mod. That's a bit unusual, but it's not unacceptable.
Edit: wow deleted your post. Mmbyeee
I approved your run and moved it.
If/when we make the switch, it would be placed in the IGT Rules subcategory. It won't be a problem to move it at that point.
I'm working on the autosplitter (the first release version is available under Ressources). Flootah and timebones are both working on routing an any% RTA Rules run that utilizes quitting to the menu. Once both of these are done, we'll be able to see just how different the categories are, and split the board then.
If you'd like to chat about it, please continue to use this thread or hit me up on any of my linked social medias, especially Discord.
@mispelledfrick
Had they created a new thread to raise their points, I'm sure you would be there saying "why did you even bother not look up existing thread".
This is new information. The ESA vods have been up for a few weeks; still, Tr1ppy's post is a new perspective: a fan of speedruns, excited to watch more, who expected src to be the place to go to see more geoguessr runs.
Yeah some people have been necroing threads lately. This isn't such a bad case that you need to antagonize them :(
Edit: nice edit LOL
You try @'ing them?
"Please keep in mind that using this thread is a last resort, in case the current moderators are not responding or refusing your help without justification. You should always start by asking the Super mods of a game/series as they are also able to add mods. Best way to contact game mods is probably through Twitter for now."
You played ps1 games using your ps2?
Even if it's technically emulation, it's often not considered an emulator run.
Check with each game's community, there's no universal standard in this matter.
If we were to divide categories we could go all the way, one category that allows anything normally allowed in speedruns, and another for a hardcore pure IGT-based run. The routes would be different enough to justify a new category. Or they could be classed as two different subcategories of any%.
Subcategory 1. True NG+ RTA rules Any% or something. Time sorted RTA. Pause allowed, quitting to the menu is allowed, assist mode allowed, force closing or crash banned. Please use auto splitter and show livesplit. Start at whichever boss you like. We would need to adjust the auto splitter to let it start at 0 when you start at a boss. Good for beginners.
Subcategory 2. Purist nopause IGT rules Any% or something. Time sorted IGT. Pause banned, quit banned, assist mode banned. No RTA timer necessary.
Or
We could keep it all in the same category, record both IGT and RTA, sort by RTA, and add a variable to each run that says "was game paused, y/n". We would amend the rules to say that extended pauses are not allowed, but you can use pauses and savequits.
Among other options, of course.
If you're wondering which software everyone uses for the timer, it's called LiveSplit. It's very good.
Komrade is referring to the l.m.a.o four steps to cope with a stupid mistake.
L. Learn Learn from your mistake. At least do that. That's the bare minimum so it's step 1.
M. Mitigate Try some damage control. Explain to those you've confused why you changed your name. Make a blog post. Add "aka oldname" to your social media. Etc.
A. Ask Apply to have your error overturned privately and quietly, don't get your hopes up. Asking for an exception publically puts staff in a position where they're setting a precedent. Don't do that.
O. Own it Own your mistake and move on with your life.
Learn. Mitigate. Ask. Own it. Remember LMAO.
Since these guys didn't mention it... It's because when you request the game, you become the one responsible for the leaderboard.
