i got 91.5% overall with 90% contract hits and wasn't able to get the don of nyc promotion, so idk how it works. also, @WRP_Beater, tessio's hits (against tattaglia) are not necessary, you can complete all 17 story missions while skipping tessio's hits and still get 100% on contracts
in case anyone wondering, here are the requirements for don of nyc rank. tested on pc, so it might be different for consoles
— 100% story missions — 100% merchants, rackets, warehouses and compounds — 100% contract hits — 100% safehouses — 50% total (not of each) collectibles (execution styles, film reels, safes)
91.5% overall game progress will allow you to achieve don of nyc rank
discovered two more:
• with tom before "Intensive Care" • with tom before "A Recipe for Revenge"
Spacebar + grab (on PC) pressed at the right time lets you skip most of the dialogues in the game. 100% possible on PS2 (Arsene1412 used this in his run) and probably on XBOX, too. Some skips require unique setups, while others are straightforward. The following dialogues can be skipped during the run using this method:
• with Luca during The Alley
• with Galtosino during The Enforcer (approach from the side and perform a quick fling - check any% WR for reference)
• with Tom before Enforcer promotion at the Corleone Compound
• with Clemenza before Intensive Care
• with Frankie during Intensive Care
• with Clemenza before Fireworks
• with Clemenza during Death to the Traitor
• with Monk at Corcoran's Perch before Horseplay
• with Tom before Horseplay (approach from behind - check any% WR for reference)
• with Tom at the Chateau Leive hotel in Midtown (approach from the side - check any% WR for reference)
• with Sonny before and during Sonny's War - one at the Compound, the other at Lucy's place
• with toolbooth attendant during Change of Plans
• with Tom and Willie before It's Only Business
• with Clemenza, Willie and Neri during Baptism by Fire
Saves quite a bit of time and is highly recommended to master to get good times

true, cheats like inifinte ammo and health should give you an advantage, but your run is like 35 minutes longer than non-cheat any% run lol. i understand that it isn't routed, but still. cheat% should not be a thing on any gta leaderboard. it's boring imo
@Arsene1412 unfortunately, it is not possible to add the IL category for a specific platform. so i guess you just have to simply submit your runs to an already existing IL leaderboard and pick PS2 when submitting
aight so here's The Don is Dead in 5:23 (i started controlling my character at 1:44 and Mission Complete screen appeared at 7:07). as you can see i have 34 respect level, so i've upgraded my stats before starting the mission. i want to confirm that upgrading your stats and weapons before starting a mission is an okay thing to do in IL :)
i'll post a video of il here later to show an example, and after we agree on the rules, i'll set up the il leaderboard
well for example, baptism can be completed much faster with street sweeper, but in normal any% we don't buy it. so before we start the mission we can upgrade the shotgun to lvl 3. (off-camera) kinda like SA ils work, where you are allowed to get any weapons before starting a timer
Just a suggestion to add an Individual Level for each story mission. Before starting a mission you are free to upgrade all the necessary stats and weapons. Timing starts when you press space to start a mission and ends when the "Mission Complete" screen appears.

for don%: i think the reason timer starts as soon as you have control of your character is because you don't really have to go to the compound to get the underboss promotion. you leave your safehouse and for example go straight to NJ to take out the Straccis, instead of going to Corleone compound to watch the cutscene. you can watch it later, after you take out all the families and return to the compound to get the don promotion. so you'll watch 2 cutscenes. one being the underboss promotion, and other — don promotion. (if you don't understand what i mean by that, check out znake's don% for the don's edition)
about adding another category: it's up to the mods, but i think it's not necessary. i'm only using the street sweeper in my don% runs, and it works perfectly, so not sure about why you want to have all your weapons upgraded before starting a don% run.
well now there is an actual don% on the leaderboards, but it's called Story+Don%. imo there should have been two sub-categories for don%. one is single segmented (the current Story+Don% on the leaderboards) and the other is multi segmented (the current Don% on the leaderboards, which requires you to load your Any% save file). that would probably erase the confusion between the runners on to how actually do Don% properly
starting the timer as soon as you gain control to your character is my suggestion
isn't that already mentioned in the Don% rules? it says "The Timer starts when you have control on your character"
