As of today, any new submissions of S3K from the Steam version will no longer be allowed. This is due to a couple of factors but mostly being inhibited availability as SEGA delisted it when releasing Origins. Any existing runs will remain unaffected.

With the Sonic glitchless run gaining a bit more traction and some pretty wild strats being found, we have updated the Glitchless rules to help further clarify what is and isnt allowed and to add clarity to specific situations. If any of you guys spot anything you feel might be missing, do reach out and let us know here or in the CSSC Discord server.

In addition to the previous news post about extra IL variables that allow runners to submit runs that start Act 2 with glitches, shields etc from Act 1, we have decided to remove the Legacy Ruleset, to do this we have grandfathered any runs that adhered to the current ruleset and just don't meet the emu verification requirements since they were put in place.

Any other runs within the legacy ruleset that didn't meet the Current Ruleset have been rejected, e.g. ones that use Check abuse.

After discussion between the moderators, and it being highlighted on the legitamacy of level carry for Act 2 ILs, we have decided to add variables for Level Carry be it shield or glitch. New rules are as follows:-

Start" requirements:

Level Select: All runs must either start from level select, or exactly as they would from level select (e.g. from a death prior to hitting a checkpoint). Carry - Shield: Run starts with a shield carried over from Act 1 Carry - Glitch: A glitch is carried over from Act 1 Carry - Timer: When Act 2 is started from Act 1 but without a Shield or Glitch. As timer would be assumed for Carrying a Shield or a Glitch. New Value: future-proofing for other scenarios.

Any currently rejected runs that fit into these variables and show necessary emu requirements will be lifted and verified.

Hi all,

As you are probably already aware, Sonic Origins is out, and a speedrunning board has been created: https://www.speedrun.com/sonic_origins

At the time of writing there is currently a submission embargo, but after that, you will be able to submit your runs played in Sonic Origins over there.

As Origins uses a completely different engine to the Genesis release, the mod team have agreed that we will not be accepting runs performed on Origins on the S3K board here.
