Intro

This guide aims to provide you with all the necessary information to be able to play and speedrun the game for PC/Web platform.

Flash was discontinued in web browsers at the end of 2021, however Flash games can still be played on your PC if you use a standalone Flash Player, which is essentially a local app that you can run which allows you to open flash (.swf) files.

Using Standalone Flash Player

The easiest way to get this running is to open this resource and extract the .zip file. This will leave you with a Flash Player app, as well as the .swf file for the latest Kongregate version, which I use personally to play the game due to the fix for the Galactic Vandalism achievement, which Coolmath did not have implemented.

Once extracted, run the Flash Player .exe file and then select "Open" and then "Browse" to open the swf file. This should start Run 3 on the standalone Flash Player. You can then play the game from here and progress will be saved at regular intervals and also upon closing the Flash Player.

Resetting Save Data

Some categories require the reset of save data (e.g. any%) so that the file is fresh each run. I recommend duplicating the .swf file and using one for any% and the other for everything else (that doesn't need a reset, anyway).

To reset a file, you need to find the location of the corresponding data files. These can be annoying to find, but they should be located here:

AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player#SharedObjects\some_string\localhost\rest_of_file_path_to_swf

Inside the folder with the same name of the swf whose data you want to reset, delete all the files. This will reset the save the next time the save is opened in Flash Player. Also note that AppData is a hidden folder, but can be accessed by typing in %appdata% into the search bar in Windows and pressing enter.

Other .swf files exist which can have a slightly altered playing experience, but the one I am linking to is (to my knowledge) the best and fastest one to use.
