Are modded stages in runs allowed? Woolie's 3rd place gauntlet run currently has Fogbound Lagoon in it for stage 3 and the FAQ states mods arent allowed. I love Woolie and think hes a great runner but it seems strange that he's allowed to use modded stages in his runs. Is Fogbound Lagoon on its own whitelist somewhere for acceptable mods?
Fogbound Lagoon is a part of the gauntlet mods, so in the gauntlet category, which is the one in question, it is required.
Who's idea was it originally to add the custom stage to gauntlet? You can turn off the stage and gauntlet functions and plays exactly the same way, so why is it there in the first place? Myself and probably some others prefer to play the game as close to vanilla as possible so can we atleast consider letting people play without it?
I get that the idea behind the category is to be like 'races', but the whole point of races is that you have multiple people playing the same seed, which in the case of speedrunning we do not.
I agree with _Wig and also don't understand why gauntlet mods MUST include this confusing custom stage. The obvious thing is that a non-original stage will make players harder to adapt the environment and spend much time to know the map well. And tbh I never think this stage is any good. Chests and tp are too scattered, and enemy pool is so strange. And the water mechanics is so annoying because it makes most chars harder to move expect loader, huntress and merc etc. That means the mobility gap is even magnified, which has been a problem between different chars before.
Maybe my view on this custom stage is somewhat subjective, but anyway, I really don't understand why we need it.
As a new runner I also don't understand why this stage is included in the gauntlet mod, seems like it's such a random addition to an otherwise great mod.
Seeing as most everyone was for this change, the Gauntlet category will now accept runs performed on an unmodded version of the game. Using the mods is still allowed, with the Fogbound Lagoon stage now being optional - allowed, but not required.
Vanilla runs still submit their IGT from the results
