Guys do you know why the game is still working when I click esc sometimes?

is it a server or a world? on a server its anyways like that and if its a world make sure lan isnt on

If you are on Java edition then it will only completely pause in singleplayer, on servers it will show pause screen but wont pause. If you are on Bedrock then it will never actually pause the game.
