Can the mods please lock this thread? This hurts my fucking mind.
I agree completely with you @Etherealxx, I was just trying to show how the evidence still proves that Dream cheated even when there is bias in favor of Dream. I already watched the Karl Jobst video and almost everything else about the investigation, sorry if my writing was confusing and unclear.
shut the fuck up about dream PLEASE, WE JUST FUCKING WANT PEACE DUDE
dude those stans are more anoying that the anarchist of my whatsapp group with burning churchs holy shit
@CalamityOblivion thanks man, respect for you, sorry if i'm a bit rude :)
dream literally cheated, if a speedrunning legend like Karl Jobst can say that Dream cheated, it's probably the truth, and think on how big the number. 1 in a 7.5 trillion? Who gets that lucky, not me, not all speedrunners except for dream, but once again, it probably won't hurt his image, considering he is trending on Twitter every day almost, and he has stans aswell
so i'm obviously some rando who made an account to talk about this after hearing about it elsewhere on the internet, but y'all realize the proof is entirely circumstantial, right? speaking as someone who is familiar with psychological studies and analyses of those for probability.
theoretical probability doesn't describe things like that. just because something is unlikely does not render it impossible. dream is being literally accused of cheating based on admittedly some extremely good luck. the idea his run should be removed for being incredibly, unfairly unlucky in the wake of a lot of extremely good luck? that's fine. at the end of the day, i'm fine with us keeping a very RNG heavy category a category where you aren't running against the god run until your fingers bleed.
but y'all seem a bit too secure in this. i'm seeing things in this thread like "he has failed to show evidence for multiple weeks now." that's not good. like, okay.
walk with me here, let's say, hypothetically, you get money if you flip a coin the same way 20 times. you flip the coin some statistically unlikely number of times, and you get the coin to land on the same face 20 times. you show it to the people you were asked to do it by, and they accuse you of cheating.
when they accuse you, you had ample opportunity to have switched the coin they gave you for a different coin, and then switched it back after showing them. they have no reason to believe the coin you give them is the same as the one that was flipped and played back to them, and they significantly believe you had a weighted coin.
how do you prove you didn't cheat?
it's simple: you can't. the idea you had a weighted coin is provable. the idea you did not have a weighted coin is not. the accusation itself could be considered to be in bad faith, if the accusers offer no way for you to prove the flipped coin is the coin you were originally given.
the mods mishandled this. they came forward with nothing but a statistical research paper instead of bothering to actually find ways for dream to prove his game was unmodified in the first place. their lack of interest in giving dream any avenue to prove his run was legitimate leaves dream floundering for some method of proving a negative.
without actual hard evidence beyond theoretical probability crap, and without any statement from the mods requesting Dream provide them with either proof they deemed was sufficient or an agreement between them about how to handle his luck in the future, the mods clearly acted with intent to remove Dream from the current leaderboards and did not care if he was discouraged from further submissions.
i'd call that bad faith. you don't just get to drop a research paper down and say that because it was biased in someone's favor that you're totally justified in only dropping the research paper. most of the time, you kind of need to make sure you take appropriate next steps, so that you guarantee you won't do this to anyone unfairly in the future. but i mean, they're just minecraft speedrunner mods. i guess who cares
