All glitches + any% route explained as of 20.1.2016

¤¤ Generic glitches covered: ¤¤

Step (originally known as Lookaround Slide) | direction then Lookaround while still stepping.
While in lookaround mode, collision is disabled with objects.

Walk (originally known as Lookaround Walk) | Lookaround then 'right' 50-70ms after.
While in lookaround mode, collision is disabled with objects.

Reaver mid-air swing / Climbing animation skip / a method to get unstuck when "stuck"(not the softlock one) | Jump while moving then press Action in mid-air, before a ledge or inside an object/geometry (such as Light Forge grate).
This is basically bunnyhopping, but it isn't much faster. It's mainly good for skipping climbing of low ledges.

Flight (Flying glitch) | Soul suck + grab a ledge at the same time, while still possessing momentum.
	found by random eidos community member in 2004

Moonwalk Flying | grab a ledge, hold Autoface and drop down. this will lock your Z plane to the object you fell on. certain slopes will cancel the glitch, you can gain height by going up stairs (carefully) and grinding against slopes. holding soulsuck will allow you to move once you are no longer touching the floor.

Attack canceling (originally known as Quick Attack) | Attack + Telekinesis mashed rapidly - you don't necceserily have to do it in sync, in fact, it's better if you don't, but if you do, you have a higher chance of dropping TKs.

	info on 2 cycle: You can get extremely lucky and do 2 combos that will make the EG lose half of his health both times. it hasn't 	been done yet, though it is theoretically possible.

¤¤ Glitches not covered / non-useful glitches: ¤¤

Moonwalk | a useless visual glitch. at razpillars where you get flight, quickly grab the left side of the stairs and the nearby ledge by tapping jump a few times. this will... reverse raziels animations, letting him moonwalk.

How to find the first save point in a chapter

This applies to runs in the "individual level" category only.

to find the start point of a chapter simply follow these steps:

finish the 'previous' chapter and go through the loading screen into the chapter you wish to run.
skip the chapter introduction cutscene.
immediately and without moving or taking other actions make a savegame in a new slot.

this save game is now at the "first save point" of that chapter and the timer starts upon loading that save.

once i get around to it you will also be able to find proper savegames in the resources section.

How to turn on VSync

In-game:

1. Start Legacy of Kain: Defiance.

2. Go to Options -> Graphics options -> Display mode.

3. Make sure Refresh rate is set to 60.

4. Go back into Graphics options.

5. Make sure Vertical Sync is turned on.

Using the Setup Dialog

1. Find the location you installed Legacy of Kain: Defiance into. (Usually in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Eidos\Legacy of Kain - Defiance" or if you have the Steam version, right click on the game in your library, click Properties, go to the Local Files tab, then click Browse files...)

2. Open the run dialog by pressing Win+R, or if you have Windows 8 or newer, right click the start hotspot/button or press Win+X and click Run, or you can also just search for Run. The first one is probably the easiest. :)

3. Make sure the text input box is empty, then drag and drop the executable of the game (defiance.exe) into the box, and insert "-setup" without the quotes at the end.

4. Click the OK button. A setup dialog window should open.

5. Make sure you choose the resolution with 60hz next to it, and check the Vertical Sync checkbox.

6. When you're done, click OK.

Using the Registry Editor
You should only use this method when the above ones don't work, but they should.
Warning: Do NOT change any other entries or you could break your system.

1. Open the Registry Editor ("regedit") via the Start menu/screen or the Run dialog (Win+R)

2. Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Crystal Dynamics > Legacy of Kain: Defiance > 1.xx

3. Change "VSync" to 1
    Change "RefreshRate" to 3c (hexadecimal) or 60 (decimal)

VSync is mandatory to make Chapter 1 skip and Chapter 2 Tree Abuse™ possible.
Not running the game with VSync on will cause the physics and collision engine to work in hyperdrive. and will make Chapter 1 walking skip almost impossible.
