A small QoL patch to remove some annoyances with trying to speedrun the game. These changes are:

  • Disables the hardware auto-configuration the game performs when launching. This means that the graphics quality option no longer resets on every launch, allowing you to run the game at lower graphical settings without having to change them mid-run. If there is no previous quality (eg. the first time running the game), graphics will now always default to Epic quality.
  • Changes the game's cloud sync code to now respect whether the user has cloud saves enabled in Steam (both account-wide and per-application). This allows you to manually swap out save files, such as for practice saves. Note that re-enabling cloud saves will always revert your save to the last cloud save.

Installation:

  1. Navigate to the folder for Kitty May Cry, such as by selecting the game in Steam, right clicking the game, and clicking Manage -> Browse local files.
  2. Navigate to the folder KittyMayCry/Binaries/Win64/ and patch the file KittyMayCry-Win64-Shipping.exe with the provided patch. To apply the patch, you can use https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/
  3. (Optional) In the same folder, delete the file steam_appid.txt. Having this file causes some potentially unwanted side-effects with the Steam API, and this patch removes the game's dependency on this file.
