UPDATE: A minor trick in ThinksTheClown's run that I missed - in Upper Castle, if you skip the Basilisk's snarl of "let me kill you" fast enough, you can gain control instantly rather than waiting for Harry to stop looking around, which is a bit faster than the jump on the banister. It may also be possible to run around the automatic walk and skip Hermione and Ron.
Optimal duels: NOTE: It may be faster in the Ron duel to let him defeat you, since he's a beast. This can be seen in ThinksTheClown's run.
