I dont like it. Especially the thoughts of ads. They haven’t taken any community suggestions even though they said that was their main priority. I thought they would listen to the community with all of the wants of everyone, especially fixing profiles. If they implement ads, then I might leave the site.
Actually, I'm glad that there will be ads on the site now. The site needs to make revenue somehow, and ads are WAY better than having features locked or only having donations. They also finally added a report accounts feature (not the bot thread, but an actual way to report users), which has been asked for a long time. I haven't read everything yet, but so far it looks like a good update imo.
Ads were something I, and many others thought would not be added.
I feel that the update is overall okay, but I really dont like the ads.
@Bob-chicken nothing is free, the site has to make money somehow. Twitch, youtube, google, twitter, reddit, instagram, facebook, all use ads, but suddenly speedrun.com is too much? Would you rather have certain site features locked behind paywalls? There's only so much they can do to make money.
They have ads for users who aren’t signed in. I dont see why they dont just re-add the donation feature.
They're offering paid positions. They kind of need a more consistent revenue if they plan on doing that.

Oh my gosh the game layouts... my opinion on the ads is the only one I dont like being the bottoms pop-up
I'm actually quite happy with the new layout. I use an adblocker so I'm not bothered by any ads.
What I did like is they finally updated the IL tables to not have a ton of empty space on each side.
The top 20 most toxic video game communities ever... please get better ads
In my opinion,, the new layout SUCKS! I hate it so much. Maybe if I get used to it I'll like it more.
