Hi all, been watching speedrunning for years. was looking to start trying some out speedrunning myself I love games like FF7 and Zelda. I know these are more advanced speedruns. What is the best game to start learning strats for.

Hello bro i'm a new speedrunner and i think the best game is the game you like the most every game is good to speedrun but if you like the difficulty i recommend Celest is very hard

Yeah my only downside is I don't have a computer. I play consoles and would need to capture and run console games

I have a SNES and PS4 and an Xbox series S, and a Nintendo switch so I have a wide range of choices which I think makes it worse to Choose. LOL I can play just about anything. Celeste, I found yesterday on Console I had thought it was PC only. I'm going to look into getting it after pay day to try it out. I do love RPG games and know they are long categories to speedrun.

I would suggest a game that can easily be played through as a layperson to the game, such as Melfand Stories for the SFC.

Perhaps contrary to popular belief, Celeste is one of those games I would advise against as a beginner game. I've tried it once, and I couldn't make it far into the game as someone with no experience playing Meat Boy games.

Something your good at like a games you have played through many times or some recommendations I have are simple games like 2d platformers like Donkey Kong Country witch has a high skill ceiling and you can get into it without much difficulty

I enjoyed my limited time playing Hollow Knight on the PS5 personally. DELTARUNE also just came out with Chapters 3 and 4. I also wanted to try speedrunning Cuphead but I never got the game, and from what I know, it's quite tricky

I think the legend of zelda 2 (I think) on the SNES because there are no major glitches I think and it is easy to study.
