(I’m sorry for making you guys wait 2 months for a car guide, I completely forgot to do it!)
The cars in DiRT 5 are very similar to each other. They feel like the same cars but from different categories. In this guide, I will explain what the best cars are of every class, including the type of track where they behave better (because there is multiple “META”s in some classes).
80’s Rally:
Ford RS200: A very versatile car which tends to understeer. The best tracks for it are Ice Breaker, Rally Raid, Sprint and Ultra Cross tracks, including snow Land Rush tracks and some Stampede tracks like Tijuca Forest and Sandstone Valley.
BMW M1 Procar: A super-fast car with a very high-top speed and easy drifting, however it is hard to control it due to the big oversteer. The best tracks for it are Land Rush and Stampede tracks, including USA Roosevelt Island. The alternative choice of this car is the Lancia 037 Evo.
90’s Rally:
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI: Overall the best car of the class. Very easy to control.
Classic Rally:
Porsche 924 Carrera GTS Rallye: A car with a high-top speed and easy to drift, however it oversteers a lot in asphalt, and it is slow on snow. Best tracks for it are Land Rush and Stampede tracks. If you can handle it without problems, then this car is the best one of the whole car class.
Lancia Stratos: A quick car that is very drifty but it’s suspension sucks. It performs better in Ice Breaker, Rally Raid, Sprint, and Ultra Cross tracks, including snow Land Rush tracks. It's the safest option if you can't control the Porsche's handling.
Cross Raid:
Laffite G-Tec X-Road: Has high-top speed and tends to oversteer, but is slower at tight corners, asphalt, and snow. The best tracks are Land Rush, and Stampede, including USA Roosevelt Island. Be careful with this car, because this car tends to wheelie whenever it lands after a jump.
Prodrive Hunter (DLC): The best handling car of the class, however its top speed is very low. It is the best in Ice Breaker, snow Land Rush, Rally Raid, and Ultra Cross.
Volkswagen Altas Cross Sport Baja Concept (DLC): Fast but slow in tight corners. Its best track is Tijuca Forest Reverse, Tinghir and Morroco’s Land Rush tracks.
Modern Rally:
Ford Fiesta R5 MKII: Overall the best car of the class.
Pre Runners:
Ford F-150 Raptor: It’s the best car overall in the class if you are confident enough to use it in every type of track and if you can control the car without problems. If not, use the alternative option: Aston Martin DBX, mainly for Ice Breaker and some Ultra Cross tracks.
Rally Cross:
Mini Cooper SX1: The best car of the class, without comparison. However, this car is STUPIDLY POWERFUL AND FAST**.** Newbies have tons of problems controlling this car, smashing against every wall. If you have problems controlling high-powered cars (because this thing is like a Koenigsegg Jesko but limited to 210 KPH), use the Subaru WRX STI RX Supercar.
Rally GT:
Fiat Abarth 124 Rally: A very fast car, but it oversteers a lot, wanting to spin most of the times. The best tracks for it are Land Rush and Stampede tracks.
Porsche 911 RGT: Behaves like the Fiat Abarth, yet he is more controllable, but its suspension sucks. I prefer using this car in Rally Raid tracks or some Ultra Cross tracks (like Dreyers Gate).
Porsche Taycan Turbo S (DLC): A versatile car with INSANE slipstream, though without it, it’s slow, and it stops in mid-air due to the downforce. It’s the best in snow Land Rush tracks, Ice Breaker, and Ultra Cross tracks (excluding USA Roosevelt Island). It is also the best at Tijuca Forest (both layouts).
Rock Bouncer:
Armada Rock Racer (DLC): Simply the best one.
Super Lite:
Exomotive Exocet Off-Road: It is very quick and quirky, but it loves to oversteer a lot too, and it’s bouncy. It is the overall best car in most tracks.
(Optional) Ariel Nomad Tactical: It has the highest top speed of the class, so it is the best in tracks with long tracks, like The Redeemer and Ait Ojana, but it might be a problem to control it.
(Optional) Speedcar Xtreme: The best car in snow Land Rush and Ice Breaker tracks, but it is hard to control it, as it also feels slow.
Unlimited:
Jimco Unlimited Truck: Although it is very heavy and has acceleration problems due to the wheelspin, it picks up speed very fast, but it is hard to control it, especially on asphalt. It is the best in majority of the tracks. A good alternative, if you have big problems in controlling this beast, use the Jimco Unlimited Class 1, or the Armada Unlimited Truck.
Jackson Adventurer (DLC): It is the slowest car of the class, however its handling is top-notch, with is great for snow Land Rush tracks and Ice Breaker tracks.
