From booting up the game, doing the same actions results in the same starting cards on a given file. This will require you to soft-reset your game anytime you want to restart the game but makes some of the card collecting faster and more reliable. Some setups to get useful starting cards that re otherwise cumbersome to come by are the following:

1. Boot the game with 1 save slot occupied and 2 empty slots. Load the existing save once and quit straight back out. Start your run on one of the empty slots and you will start with Mystery Crate, Freeze Crate, Crash Crate and Steel Crate

2. Boot the game with 1 save slot occupied and 2 empty slots. Load the existing save once, quit straight back out, load the same save again and quit back out once again. Start your run on one of the empty slots and you will start with Nitro Switch Box, Freeze Crate, !-Box and Gem Blue

3. Boot the game with 3 empty slots. Start a new save, quit back out and delete the save you just made. Start your run and you will have Mystery Crate, Freeze Crate, Crash Crate and Steel Crate

There are more setups that could be considered useful but these three seem among the best as there are no overtly complicated setups involved.
