Beginner tips for running this game
Uppdaterad 2 years ago av ViperUK

So given we've got quite a few newcomers in the last few months and maybe even more people joining in the future I thought it would be a good idea to share some tips to when you are starting out with anything on this game so here you go.

  1. Find the category that will work best for you

If you are here for the longer runs then Championship (Novice, Standard Cars) would be a good place to start for you however if you've got less time maybe try out the Arcade Class B (Novice) or Challenge Speedruns as they are less than 40 mins each.

  1. In terms of car setups, cuts etc.

Don't think about anything yet, ideally you want to learn the stages with your favourite car (The fastest car is the Seat but you may feel more comfortable with the Ford Focus for example so whichever car is better for you is the one I'd pick to start with) and once this is done you can then start to improve your times and eventually the run will come and you will get the times you want.

  1. Remember the weather! (WET = BAD)

So you want as little rain as possible (Snow in Sweden is excluded as there's no difference in terms of grip there) however I'd suggest learning the stages in the wet as well as the dry as that way you are prepared for whatever the game throws at you.

  1. When to start doing shortcuts, OOB etc.

Ideally this comes with experience, most people will try the cuts and find them difficult remembering where they are so only try a few at first that you can do and slowly work them all in bit by bit (No point having a run die due to failing a cut you've seen someone do months ago and not remember where it is)

This also brings me nicely onto doing the Super Special Stage skip, DO NOT TRY THIS EARLY ON! The only reason I say it like this is because you won't be quick enough to beat the AI at first, only when you've gotten much faster that you will be able to pull this off. Kenya SS Skip is notorious for killing runs so be warned!

  1. Ideal times to roughly aim for overall

This will come with time and practice as well as doing shortcuts but a good goal to aim for is usually less than 1h 30m, granted not everyone will be able to get there straight away (Again this is down to how fast you pick the game up) but it's a nice goal to aim for at the start. After that the sky is the limit and you can aim for wherever you please.

  1. Have fun and good luck!

Goes without saying really, hope runs go well and if you want to find out more about cuts and glitches you can find everything you need in the Discord server under the #cmr2 channel. Good Luck :)
